Creating Gold
The creation of gold through magical means is a major point of contention and conflict across the land. The Red Hats have a history of commissioning rogue Blue Hat Wizards to create gold. Some speculate this takes place on abandoned islands in the Alchemist's Archipelago where bootleg labs are manufacturing it. While chrysopoeia, or the creation of gold, is historically the ultimate end-goal of all Alchemy, the ability to produce mass quantities of gold does not exist, and the Red Hats often wonder if the material is worth the cost. The overarching academic establishment of the Blue Bastion generally does not approve of this clandestine production of gold, particularly due to pursuit of profit rather than enlightenment.
Fairy Gold
Upon investigation of illicit alchemical operations, many suggest that rogue Blue Hats have not truthfully cracked the code on this process. Some in the world believe these deceptive Wizards enslave fairies of The Fey who can create gold through Fairy Magic. A large portion of those who hold the belief posit that the fairies only produce gold once tortured.
To differentiate Fairy Gold from True Gold, the substance must be weighed on the Golden Scales, where Fairy Gold will be reduced to Fairy Dust. Historically, there have been instances where large quantities of gold in the Red Capital were found to be false Fairy Gold, which resulted in crashes of the Red Wizards' markets, causing assets backed by Fairy Gold to become worthless overnight.
Meta Lore
Gold Nugget is a Treat given in the 2022 Halloween Trick or Treat Event, where Wizards, Warriors, Souls, and Friends traveled through the Vampyre Mist to knock on the Nightmare Imp's door to receive a Trick or a Treat.
