Deep within the Athenaeum of the Blue Bastion, there sits an obsidian pyramid. Delicately etched upon it is are inscriptions from the mind of the Holy Arcanist Illuminus of the Heavens (0). The marks concern the Quantum Ouroboros—the dueling dragons of Space and Time. Roughly translated, they read:

"Woven into the folds of time, two great dragons, the Quantum Ouroboros, eternally devour one another, a dance with no beginning or end, a cycle of ages unbroken." "History etched upon their scales, peoples clash and converge, empires bloom and wither, a melody ever familiar yet ever changed. The meandering bowels of the dragons are a crucible, digesting epochs, melting the past to reforge the future."

The Wizards and scholars of the Bastion have dedicated centuries to the study of the deity Quantum Ouroboros, developing through their research an understanding of Space and Time that defies conventional logic. They have uncovered the non-linear nature of Time and the phenomenon of spatial entanglement across vast distances, among other fundamental principles.

The repeatable nature of history is a concept open to analysis by philosophers, scientists, and arcanists alike, each offering unique insights. The convergence of their studies suggests that the Ouroboros tends to repeat its patterns in the furrows of Spacetime, though slight alterations are observed through the ages. At every epoch—often marking the beginning or end of a revolution—great visionaries emerge to change the Dragons' course ever so slightly, leaving immutable marks upon its scales. These luminaries, forever woven into the fabric of history, have been known by many names: prophets, pioneers, titans, trailblazers, maestros, moguls, and, during times of great upheaval: Wizards.

Time

When asked about a "time system" for the Runiverse, Elf responded:

This Quantum Ouroboros, the divine dragons of Space and Time, will not show us a linear timeline, because Time is a wheel with patterns of cyclical repetition. So yes, the Gate of the 7th events were major. It’s something I’m definitely putting in the show scripts. Other major events were the summoning of the Wizards themselves, the event where we all came face to face with our Runiverse avatars, and Day One of the Great Burning. All relevant events. Those dates are set in our world. There’s your timeline. We were there. But I’m guessing youre asking for a conversion table to the Runiverse Calendar? I’m not sure one exists, Mostly because Ourboros is exerting a such strong influence that when the Blue Wizards attempt to construct a sensible calendar, the dragons distort it.

Meta Lore

The Quantum Ouroboros is a special Beast released separately from the other seven in the Season 1 collection. While the others were released from the Gate to the Seventh Realm unlocking event, The Quantum Ouroboros was reserved for a special auction hosted on famed Christie's Arthouse as part of their Cartography of The Mind curated NFT sale. A total of $1,569,960 USD was raised in total from all the NFTs sold under this event, and were donated to Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) which specializes in the research and advocacy of psychedelic usage for the treatment of mental health.

Auction

The official Christie's auction page for the Quantum Ouroboros was estimated by curators to have a valuation of $35,000 USD prior to the auction's opening. Auctions held on Christie's platform are held in USD, contrary to the Beast auctions for other Beasts which were denominated in ETH. Many commenters in the Discord noted that the valuation given by Christie's curators when converted to ETH would make it the cheapest of all other Beasts auction in Season 1.

Despite the estimated value given by Christie's curators, the auction received a total of 23 bids before closing at $138,600 USD by a bid from realizeorigin. The auction opened on 21 June 2022 and ran for 7 days, ending on 28 June 2022, unlike other Beast auctions which ran for just 24 hours (with extensions for bids placed within the final 15 minutes of an auction ending).

Trivia

By looking at the source code of the Forgotten Beasts contract, cult members made note that although the auctions initiated by the opening of the Gate to The Seventh Realm started with Chaos Chimera (token ID 1) and ended with Seven Tailed Kitsune (token ID 7), the Beast count actually begins at ID 0. This lead to speculation as to whether or not there was more than the initial 7 Beasts released from the event before the Quantum Ouroboros was officially revealed.
