A limitless abyss expanding beyond thought and dream, the cosmos expands forever, cold and dark. The true measure of the void is incomprehensible to most, and thus takes other names and forms. The Ethereal plane and all it's manifestations map to the void, but these are mortal, hope-filled attempts to grasp what is formless.

Only ten Wizards have dared gazing deep into the abyss, losing themselves in its stare and surrendering entirely to its embrace. In the cold void, the Shadow Hats discovered Black Magic—the most potent of the Arcane Arts. This craft is the nightmare of the wraith, the nihilistic chasm in which all hope withers, a power in shadow beyond the illuminated eye of the gods.

There are other rare Wizards who have unraveled many secrets of the void, such as Great Old Ones, Wizard Zero, the Nightmare Imp, certain forgotten souls, the Grim Reaper, many Liches, and others. And there are Wizards across the lands who dabble in Black Magic, but not to the extent of the Shadow Hats and their Shadows.

The Quantum Shadow itself is seemingly an earthly residue of this Void, casting existential despair into the hearts of the living, and a grim reminder of that which awaits us all.

And while the reach of this shadow is vast, hope remains, a defiant candle flicker in a forgotten house. It is the purpose of every wizard, every warrior, indeed of every one, to find that fleeting hope, and to nurture its fragile light until the cosmos sparkles beyond measure. As long as a single star burns in the infinite dark, the abyss will not prevail. It will not consume all in a total void of absolute nothingness.
