Oh my gosh. Did I scream when Frog sent it over? I like, There's also an animation with one of them too. I don't know if it can be seen. I don't think I uploaded the animation to my [00:01:00] profile, but I like lost it when I saw it. It's just like everything I ever wanted in a pfp. So this one won't be changing anytime soon.

Bearsnake: And it, and also it's like what's amazing about Frog is he does it with such style, like a lot of people have like technical ability. Mm-hmm. But he comes in. Mm-hmm. And like he did the one that I stole, I gave him credit, but I posted on Twitter of um, It was like the wizard dancing and squidward with the, with the warrior hat was looking at the shade.
And it's just like, there's so much packed into that. Um, not everybody can do that. Not everybody has like the left or right brain frog. We love you. You're amazing.
Elf: Yeah. Yeah. Frog has been, been really turning out some bangers lately. Um, which brings me actually to my first important statement that I wanna make today.

I think it's, uh, the Greek God, Saturn or Kronos eating his children.

Elf: Well, it's just not super clear that he, he's, he's part of the cult.
Bearsnake: I'm kidding. It sounds kind of culty though, eating your kids.
Elf: It, it does. And plus, Goya is one of my favorite painters of all time. So it's, it, it fits.
Bearsnake: I thought Goya was that like bean company, the canned bean company. Goya. That was, that was a layup.
Elf: It really was. Um, okay, we've got a big show today. We've got cult questions, we've got humans [00:03:00] versus ai. We've got Black Sands updates. Bear went to G D C and he is gonna tell us all about it and we've got cult content.
Um, but, but first I have a very important question for Doda. Uh, Doda. Are we gonna flip doodles? I. Ooh. I don't want, I like this topic. You know,

Elf: I don't really, you know, you never like to see your heroes fall. I'd rather doodles have a ten eighth floor and we have a 28th floor. You know what I mean? It's like, I don't wish them ill, but I wouldn't mind being flipping them either.
Bearsnake: So, see, you want, you want us both to win, but you want us to be winning harder,

Um, but yeah, I mean, forgotten rooms has been holding pretty damn steady lately. Am amidst all the bear market chaos. Um, so I, I'm feeling good. As I said a few weeks ago, the state of the cult is strong. Um, and it's only gonna get stronger cuz we've got so many more things coming up. Uh, but before we get into all that, I just wanna address a few cult questions.
Uh, night Al Birdman, uh, has three questions. Number one, win lore. Uh, night Al, how about this? As soon as we launch 3d, I will write my lore, um, Baird. Dota, what about you?

Elf: Okay. And then night asks, uh, where does one [00:06:00] appear as he enters the void? Um, the void. I, I think you just answered your own question. Uh, you know what that reminds me of? That reminds me of when, uh, did you guys see, uh, somebody asked chat g p t like a few weeks ago.
Um, if there's a hundred murderers in a room and you walk in and kill one of them, how many murderers are left? And Chad, g p t said 99, uh, which is the wrong answer? Um, and then they asked that same question like a few weeks later, and it answered it perfectly. It, it like broke down the logic, which was, uh, well, if you enter the room and you kill, kill a murderer, you yourself become a murderer.
And therefore the number remains at 100. Like chat g p t solved with a riddle. Um, and, and that's kind of horrifying, but, uh, but yeah, I, I wanna talk about AI a little bit more later. Um, bear, one more question for [00:07:00] you. Uh, Cheba is asking anybody else besides Bear coming to N F T N, yc? I don't think so. Yeah.

I am going. Um, and uh, yeah, there's, you know, it's funny cuz everybody was like, oh, nothing's going on and New York this, this year. They like pushed it up close to LA and then, and then I wa honestly I wasn't even planning on going and, and like 15 messages in asking if like I was going or there's this event and I was like, I guess, I guess people are going, so [00:08:00] if other people are going, I'll just be a little leming

That's right. Can you, can you give us any, uh, previews of the, any fun parties you're gonna go to? I want
Bearsnake: to go to the Ranga event. Um, I'm gonna go to, do you guys know, um, Dave Krugman and all and his project all shift? No, you should. He's like a, he minted, um, he's a really great artist, amazing photographer.
He's got this really cool platform, all ships. Um, so I wanted to go say hi to him and then remember when we did, uh, that podcast and Red Beard was there, think I'm gonna hang out with Red Beard? Yeah. Um, and some and Des and, and so yeah, just, yeah, just meeting some people. Uh, definitely more meetings than events.
Um, but yeah, I think, uh, it's just so much easier to get stuff done during these conferences. I never actually go to the conference for the most part, but when everybody's in one place, it's easy to get a lot of, a lot of business done. So I'll be there. For

Um, yes. How about next week? I, if, if you ask me to do it right as wizard through Wednesday starting, then you, you gimme no time to write something up, but yeah, I'll, I'll give, I'll give something next, me next week. Um, and then Tanya is asking, uh, a question, which is actually something I wanna hit on today anyway, uh, bear, can you tell us about your trip to G D C?
Bearsnake: Yeah, um, well I'll keep it brief, but I, I wanna like open it up beyond just like the conference and, and just talk about gaming. I know that, you know, you wanted to get into it a little bit. Sure. But I mean, I think the headline coming from G D C and, and this was my first one, um, I was more of like a comic-con guy.
Um, but it was my first one. It was huge. I think there were like 25,000 developers there. Um, and, uh, well, it's cool. It's, it's almost like East Denver, but in gaming, right? Cause these are all the developers, these are the people that are developing the games. [00:10:00] Um, all the pe, all the industries that surround publishing games and making games.
And so it's just a bunch of builders. Um, I just have so much respect for people in the gaming industry. There's so, there's such strategic thinkers and I think, like, generally speaking, the, the bar for intelligence is, is just so high. So I met a lot of really great people. I met, uh, you know, uh, one of the reasons I went up there is obviously 3D is a big part of our future.
So meeting with game developers, um, to discuss what are the possibilities we can be doing, um, in game engines like, uh, unity and Unreal. Um, so I had a lot of really great conversations. Um, met up with the by Sonic team for a bit. Uh, but the, but the headline is, is like, you know, this whole idea of like web two gamers and we have to come up with like a better term cuz it's just people who play video games, but we'll just say web two gamers, you know, there's this like friction that we all know about and they hate NFTs and blockchain and it's a scam.
But, you know, you walk around the conference and, and like every third booth [00:11:00] was. Either like was web three or blockchain related. And so really my takeaway is that, um, whether gamers, traditional gamers like it or not, um, the industry is like fully embracing the technology. And I think, you know, I, I don't know how w I don't think anyone knows exactly how it'll play out, but it's certainly coming.
Um, and I, and I think a lot of us on the team, um, and, and people in general web three feel like gaming is like one of the first big sort of breakout verticals of the industry. And after G D C, it, it feels like that's, you know, spot on and it's, it's, it's quite exciting. Um, so yeah, it was, it was really fun.
Um, a lot of, a lot of white space
Elf: there. Yep. I, I think we internally have been feeling that gaming is gonna be more and more of a part of what we do, um, specifically like metaverse web three type gaming. Um, you know, it seems like every week we're talking to a new project or new [00:12:00] partner and incorporating our assets into things that they're building.
Um, and, you know, we've talked about this before, but I think there's just gonna be like a really sort of exponential, Cambrian, Cambrian type explosion of metaverse related gaming experiences. Um, which just, you know, it, it makes me really excited because our 3D models are perfectly suited, uh, to, to be interoperable with all of that.
Mm-hmm.
Bearsnake: Um, yeah, I think the other part of it, oh, if you're, um, I don't wanna cut you off. No, go for it. I think the other part of it is I was in the spaces yesterday, um, and they were talking about, you know, I mean gaming is such like a broad category, um, but this idea of like, you know, what are the sub genres?
This idea of like, uh, fully on chain games versus partially on chain games. Um, and they even. You know, started talking about, you know, board game mechanics and [00:13:00] how they, they can really be applied well to, to sort of on chain games, um, fully on chain games. And so I ended up coming on stage and, and talking and of course, um, do, and the dev team and, and everybody's been sort of building, uh, goblin town, which is as, as we all know, is almost like a, I wouldn't say a derivative of settlers of Catan, but it certainly takes, uh, sort of maybe some of the core mechanics.
Um, and so, yeah, I think it's gonna be fun because not every game is gonna, like, you know, neither every game is gonna look like Fortnite or, or the other side in terms of like 3D rig models. Um, and so there's just gonna be a lot of exploration and I'm excited that we're not just diving into one section, you know, like we're partnering with our, with other like 3D game engine metaverses and deploying those models.
We're playing with what is, we know what does like a 3D full stack internally look like. Um, and then, you know, these fully unchained. Sort of board game type, uh, games. So it's, it's [00:14:00] gonna be fun to, to try all the, you know, try all this.
Elf: Yep. Yep. Um, so, you know, th this, this actually is kind of, is, is a good segue into this next piece that I wanted to talk about.
Um, there was, uh, a conversation in Discord the other day, uh, comparing forgotten rooms to Crypto kitties, which is the, uh, like the N F T project of 2017, and now it's kind of dead. Um, you know, first of all, I would just say that it's kind of a silly comparison, um, because I, I would say CryptoKitties isn't so much defined about, Defined by it, its features.
I, I would say it's more defined by the time that it released. Um, like, you know, crypto Twitter was barely a thing. Defi had not even happened. Um, you know, I really just think they were more of a victim of like being a little too early. [00:15:00] Um, and they really had no other project to look at. So they sort of made what I think would be a lot of like beginner mistakes, um, such as sort of over, over inflating their supply.
Um, the NFT infrastructure was barely even there. Like, nobody knew how to use meta mask really. Um, so I, I don't know that it's a really good comparison, but what I would like to say is that I'll, I'll just take this as an opportunity to reiterate why I think Forgotten Ruins will succeed. And, and one of those is just what we just talked about, which is Web three gaming and Metaverse.
Um, For which we are totally ready. We are well positioned. We've got two full collections, almost totally done. That is the wizards and the souls. Um, so I mean, we're just metaverse ready. I, I think more so than like 95% of the projects out there. [00:16:00] Um, our 3D models look fricking amazing. Um, they were made with the metaverse in mind.
They're totally optimized. Um, bear, what was it that one of those partners said to you the other day about how optimized our models are?
Bearsnake: Oh, he was like, he was like, they're so ready to be like deployed on mobile, on desktop. He's like, who? He's like, whoever, whoever made those assets actually knows what they're doing.
And I kinda like Chuck, I chuckled. And I was like, yeah, I guess, I guess he kind of does know what he's talking about. God damn it. No, but everybody, everybody's like, you know, and, and, and Elvin something that you, you, you, you spoke about, and I think in theory this applies to most things in life, but specifically to this idea of simplicity, simplicity isn't necessary.
Easy. Right? It doesn't mean it's like the easy path. It's no, there's, there's a skill. Um, and it, and, and you have to be quite [00:17:00] tactful to approach something, uh, that's both simple and elegant and, uh, yeah, people, you know, from a developer standpoint, people are super impressed. So kudos to you and the team.
Uh, obviously we loved it, but it's nice to get sort of outside opinions.
Elf: Yeah, no, it, there, there's a lot of, uh, skill, um, in making things simple and optimized. It reminds me of the Volterra quote. He, uh, he wrote a really long letter to his friend and he goes, first, let me apologize. I didn't have time to write something short.
Um, and so, yeah, it just, it takes a lot of time to like distill a piece of content into, its, its essence. It's, it's like simplicity isn't easy. It requires. Very intelligent editing. Um, but regardless, uh, we are, we are metaverse ready. We've got full 3D assets. Um, and so this is just like a sort of exponential vector into everything that's being built.
Um, we also, uh, are building a bridge to [00:18:00] the legacy entertainment industry. Um, this is more, uh, bears, uh, arena. Um, but, but yeah, I mean we've got a comic book that again, every week I'm like, bear, can we announce yet? And he says, no, but we're getting close. I
Bearsnake: will say as an update, we're prepping a press release, which is really good.
So it's all happening. Just be, be patient with me.
Elf: Yep. Yep. Hell yeah. Um, and, and then the TV show is of course, progressing as well. Um, so, you know, this, this Bridge to Legacy entertainment is, is I think, critical for any NF any NFT project because NFTs are after all media. Um, I, I think another really, uh, strong feature that forgotten Rooms has is our growth has been slow, steady, and organic.
We are not a pump and dump project. Um, You know, I mean, just look at the [00:19:00] charts right now. We are still holding steady. Um, and, and I think this is like long term. This is exactly what we want. Um, Dota, you can cut in any time, by the way. Yeah. I,
Bearsnake: I also have a theory, but Dota, you go ahead.
Elf: Well, I think that like, one of the reasons, one of the ideas I think with this project was trying to build a product and like sort of an activity and an infrastructure for something that would last quite a long time.
And so part of the struggle that we've had as a project with regards to perception in the N F T marketplace is, is this idea that it's not purely financial. That like, sort of, if you're a purely financial player, you look at it and you're like, wait, I have to create my character and like, make art about it.
Like that's too much work. I'm just looking for momentum. Um, and so momentum comes and goes and you know, whatever. It's a part of our project of course. But like, I think underpinning it is this [00:20:00] idea that like you are able to, uh, That that part of creating, uh, even the franchise is having like breakout characters and that it really only takes one character to pull forward, um, the rest of the project.
You, so you see this with like pretty much every franchise. You see this with like, hello Kitty. You see this with let's say Mickey Mouse. You see this with like, you know, there's tons, all the greatest franchise have multiple breakout characters, right? Like there're tons in Star Wars or, uh, Pokemon for example.
But like, you really only need one to kind of then, uh, bring people's attention to the project to break out, and then all the other projects are able to like get that attention. And so part of what's special about Forgotten Ruins is that you really only need, um, One person to keep the project going. That like fundamentally one person who creates a story or character that's, um, unique not only within the collection but just within the world of characters [00:21:00] can actually, um, grow the project.
So for example, I brought up an example of like Mag Devin of the Quantum Downs. Mag Devin is like close to sort of transcending even forgotten ruins to be this sort of character that is known in general because there are just so many kind of instantiations of her style. And so I think that like, part of the, part of the question that, um, this person had w uh, with regards of CryptoKitties was just like he was telling his friends, like his friend, like, oh, I love forgotten ruins.
There's so many people building, so many people building on every day. Like, it's so great. You should check it out. And his friend was like, uh, don't, don't let that trick you like just cuz people are building that does, like I lost all my money on crypto kitties. People are building on crypto kitties too, and.
I, I guess what I'm saying is the reason that I think it's different is because like with CryptoKitties, if the tokens fail, the whole project fails. Um, and with forgotten Ruins it's really around like, if one person can make one important character, then it basically lifts the entire collection. And so the, the point of failure is actually like, almost like built into [00:22:00] the product, if that makes sense.
Bearsnake: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's leveraging, it's leveraging the network effect. It's really what it's doing. It's empowering individuals to carry
Elf: the torch and the, and the product works on an individual level, right? So like Silicon Valley people think about this all the time. So let's say like Pinterest for example, Pinterest is useful for you alone, right?
There might, there could be zero other users on Pinterest and it's still useful because it's this like single, single player tool that you can come and you can like, um, you know, save what you're interested in and like save this art categorize, you know, plan your, redesign your house, whatever. And Forgotten Ruins is in some, in some sense that same way, right?
Like the framework for the character from which you have commercial rights to build something out and to build this world. Now you could, you have, you can't build on, you know, Harry Potter and bring it to commercialization. You can't bring on build on Lord of the Rings. You bring it to commercialization, but you can build on Forgotten ruins.
And so it works for you, even as a single [00:23:00] player now on Pinterest, when you have the network of people that, that, that are sharing other things, then you can make the product better because you like have, you know, you can recommend things, you can look at stuff other people together, right? So the network makes it stronger, but it's first, it still works as a single player.
So that's something I think is really important about Forgotten Roots. Yep, yep. Um, a few other things is, uh, I, I think that our tokens have been very innovative, purposeful, and, and intelligently designed. Um, you're, you're welcome. Yeah. Thanks Bear.
Bearsnake: Wait, can I cut you off? Because this leads into exactly what one of my theories is of why Yeah.
Go for, and I, I think I told you this the other day, El, but I didn't say it to, to Dota. Um, I actually think a, a, a big part or a a, a fasted to why we're at where we're at and, and so healthy is, um, I attribute a lot of it to the [00:24:00] Sacred flame and the tokens around the Sacred Flame and how, um, Doda and team decided to distribute those tokens.
Um, you know, Doda, I don't know if, if you, if you feel the same way, but you know, we, you know, we dropped, we airdrop the Sacred Flame to everybody who wrote in the book of lore, right? And that's a pretty high bar. Um, To receive an air job is like write a story. Obviously some, some lower ha had had like, um, less sort of purpose or, um, time put into it.
The point is, is like we, we really doubled down on the people who were here, um, sort of contributing in a way that, that we felt was the most valuable. And I think in the short term, you know, we actually got so much flack, um, from people about just dropping to those people. But I think this is exactly why we are where we're at, is is we concentrated on the people that we're here for all the right reasons.
And it was like [00:25:00] almost the perfect filter, um, to select, um, and aggregate the right people. I don't know if you feel the same way, Dota, but I, I think that specific drop actually had a huge impact.
Elf: Uh, for sure. I think. I think so too. Uh, here's something funny about the Sacred flame is like a lot of people really love that burn mechanic.
I, I know that other big N F T projects still reference it. Um, but Dota, do you remember when we were inter interviewed by some like fashion blog about our burn mechanic? It, it was like such a, it was
Bearsnake: Vogue. Vogue business.
Elf: Yeah. We got interviewed by Vogue to talk about the Sacred Flame.
Bearsnake: I remember I messaged you, I'm like, Hey guys, like Vogue Business wants to talk about the burning.
And you were like, wait, what?
Elf: Yeah, yeah, it was great. Um, but yeah, so anyway, long story short, I think just innovative, [00:26:00] purposeful, intelligent tokens is, is one thing that we do really well. Um, the Warriors need. Another thing that I don't, I don't know if we talked. Yeah. Warriors need to burn. Yeah. It it'll probably happen at some point.

Elf: So another thing is, uh, the, the, the, the, the meta-narrative under Forgotten Ruin. Um, I, I, I think like this is another part of our success. Well, so let me explain like, let's you look at your, your standard, what I like to call literative animal N f t projects, of which there are way too fucking many.
Um, you, you look at 'em and you, and you don't know the story. It's just like a, a cute, stupid animal. And there there's like, there's no inherent story into it. So it's incumbent upon the, the, the, the founders or the community to just [00:27:00] like create one from scratch, which is fine, but like when you're trying to do a decentralized world build where.
You've got a community of thousands of people who may not necessarily be talking to one another. How do you build a world with continuity in a decentralized way? And I think this, this is where one of the strengths of forgotten wounds is, is because, Our base layer narrative is the mono myth. Um, it's, it's, it's built on archetypes that are thousands of years old.
Nearly every trait art and lore element is just a continuation from a history of myth and culture. Um, Carl Young's collective unconscious is, is being expressed in the universe daily. Uh, and, and this is unlike any other project out there. This, this archetypal understanding is, is just it's key to a [00:28:00] decentralized world build.
Um, and this is how we achieve like a, a semblance of continuity. Um, you know, you, you look at a wizard and everybody kind of already knows what it is. You look at the traits in the collection and everybody kind of already knows what they mean. And so this is how you, you build a decentralized world. Um, And, uh, and, and then finally, um, I, I think like we also do a really good job of just sort of leveraging the true purpose of what an N F T is.
Um, you know, I'm not even sure that a lot of projects out there are even asking like, what is an NF t Why are we making NFTs? Because I, I, I think too many of them just see it as another financial instrument. They, they don't care about the difference between a fungible token and a non fungible token. Um, for me, the most important thing about an NFT as, as opposed to an a fungible token is that you [00:29:00] are in control of it.
You don't just own it. You shape it and you develop it. And so its value can be determined by you and your community. You know, it's, it's, it's not just at the whim of the market. Like a fungible token is an an N F T has. Practically limitless potential. Um, and, and so every day we at Magic Machine try to build and, and think of ways for our holders to realize this, this limitless potential.
Um, uh, and actually I have two more things, sorry. Uh, another one, a team. Our team, I think our team is the best out there. I'm not gonna brag too much, but we just have such a large range of talents and like, like some teams out there, they, they don't even have an artist on their core team, on their brain trust.
And, you know, I, I could, I could rattle off a few examples of, of teams that it, this clearly shows that they don't have a creative person on their team. It's [00:30:00] just a bunch of business people. Um, some teams totally out outsource their coding, not us. Uh, and, and, and almost no team has a bear snake on their team, which is a guy who can open doors and the entertainment industry.
Yeah. Um, I mean, hell, we, we even have a wise. Uh, apple probably only succeeded because they have a Woz and now we have a Woz too. Um, and you know, not to mention the rest of our team, I mean, frog has just been doing some awesome things lately. Locke has
Bearsnake: been making lock. Locke has been, Locke was our first hire, remember?
And she, we were so worried about passing off of socials and she just got it immediately. Remember that first interview? Do and she all the references and it was like, oh my God, did we just like it? Like it was, that's an, that's an impossibility. Yeah. Um, to find someone like that. No, everybody,
Elf: totally, totally.
No, everyone on our team is amazing. So, you know, I'm, I'm just like, I bet on Forgotten Rooms is a better on our team and, uh, I think that's a good bet. And then, and then [00:31:00] finally the final thing, the most important thing, you all know what I'm gonna say? It's the community. And I know a lot of people think, it's almost cliche to say community and the N F T space, but it's not cliche.
It, it's, it's only cliche if you say it. And then you go into that discord and everyone is just talking about floor price, but we all know that that is not forgotten rooms. Everyone knows we have the best damn community in town. Um, and so, you know, I mean, like it's, it's, that's probably the most important thing.
And I could like spend the n the rest of Wizard Wednesday talking about all the things that you all are building. It's why
Bearsnake: we can punch above our weight. I, I'll tell you like I'm, you know, I'm the one who has to spend a lot of the time, you know, engaging with outside partners. Um, some of them are aware of us and some of them aren't.
But you know, uh, now it's like people are just coming to us because, you know, you look at where the industry is, you look at where most projects [00:32:00] are and we just ha we just have this, um, there's this sort of respect that I think we have. And, and I don't mean like punching above our weight, like we're small and mighty.
I think it's just we have this respect and, and I think part of it is, is like, The community and magic machine team, the incentives are completely aligned. You know, and, and, and, and the closer that those goals and the expectations are, I think the healthier, um, you know, the healthier the whole thing can be.
And, and it just gives legs to everything, you know?
Elf: Yeah. I think we have the most intellectual and creative capital of any group within the space. Full stop. Like I fullheartedly believe that I was just being treated this morning. I think the best teams in the world are really good at decision making along with other things.
And I think this group of people, team and community, make really strong decisions across all those like sectors and, yeah. Edge had add that it's just, it's baffling to me [00:33:00] how many smart people we have within team and group. It really is

Elf: Yeah, well, you know, we, I think we coined the term Speed Runner franchise, and this is one of the ways you do it, is you have an entire community that's building with you. So, you know, how could it not go faster when you've, when you've got thousands of people building towards the same, same thing. Um, so yeah, I mean, you, the, the community is just such a vital part of our success.
Um, and you know what? There's one community project that I, that I wanna, uh, briefly mention today. Um, it's, it's a cult favorite, uh, black Sands pony racing, um, legis. Uh, so just very recently we fully integrated Black Sand and Rooms, so.
In a way that if you play rooms, then you get better at playing black scent. So, so I think that that's just, just awesome for me, uh, to see every, everybody really coming together. So there, I just wanna make sure Bill and give out for making the integration happen on a technical side of things. Cause that for me is like another level of magic that I definitely am not acquainted with.

But yeah, I posted something in the Discord, but, um, I think it can't go, um, Unno, you know, it can't go understated. Like we have like a backend API integration, so like our servers are talking to each other.
So if someone plays a ruins game, black Sands will, will automatically know whether you did or didn't, and you can, you know, roll the training role in the, in the Discord. Um, and so, I mean, yeah, uh, that's, that's, that's some, uh, that's some community, uh, team teamwork right there. Um, it's super cool. Yeah. I think I wanna chime in really quick to say that this is one point that I find really cool, and I think that it really gets points across of like, what really the purpose its up to like what are, what is the purpose of making the nft right?
Like what El said earlier, and like when you give the community tools [00:43:00] to build. And they actually do build with them, and they're actually able to integrate together without, without like the need for contacting the original devs or having any kind of deals made or anything, and they can build off of those assets.
That's so empowering and like, you can't have that really with like web tour or anything. Like, like one, one aspect I see when people say is like, well you can do like with like web two gaming, like you can really do a lot of these things with like, you know, centralized servers. Like yeah, it'd be very difficult for you to try to contact like Riot and get like rights, like use their assets for like legal alleged assets to build your own side game and then have other community members build side games over off those side games, iterating with each other and stuff.
Like, that's not really easy to do. Like it's possible. Sure. But it's not really easy or scalable. But with this you can, and like we see it right here and we see it in effect like so empowering. Like we are, like we have the tools and the creatives can build off of it in a way that you can't do before.
Damn. Right. [00:44:00] Yeah, a hundred percent. Totally agree. Matto it, it, it, you're, you kind of, you kinda hit on it where, where a lot of this stuff is quote unquote technically possible, but, but it's not practically possible. It's does not how things work In the web. In the web, exactly. And so, and, but you get that stuff for free when you build with this technology.
Like it's, it's just baked into what it allows from like a, from like a first principles, like just out of the box, um, fashion. So, um, so yeah, that, that is really, that is really the change. But I wanted to quickly, I mean, know, speaking of community projects and gaming and, and just like this community being amazing, um, I wanted to quickly recap, uh, the Universe Rush Tournament that happened this weekend.
Um, So people aren't aware, uh, this past month, uh, Mapple dad, um, who's kind of been running rooms tournaments cuz he's fricking amazing and an absolute beast.
Bearsnake: Um, oh, he's, he's incredible. We love Maple. He's
Elf: incre. He's, I mean, he is like an absolute powerhouse, like mm-hmm. [00:45:00] Just, and also one of the most genuinely nicest people you'll ever meet and like, just.
You know, the most amazing, like, and I mean, he put, like, he's a nerd amongst nerds also. Like he fricking eats this shit up and it's amazing. Um, and such an amazing resource for all us to have, um, on our team. But, um, anyway, he's been running this, he has been running these tournaments. He, uh, reached out to Matto.
You know, I've kind of recapped this a few times. Um, and we hosted the Univer Rush Tournament this past weekend, uh, with the, uh, grand prize being a, um, universe homestead plot of land. And, uh, and we completed the tournament this weekend. There were a hundred entrances, uh, total. Uh, after a few weeks of elimination rounds, we made up to 24 finalists, uh, who all, who most have showed up on Saturday to take part in a four hour event.
Um, and, uh, and there was the winner, uh, Varn Kiss who actually won the first tournament. So he's kind of proving himself to be quite the, the person to beat. Um, he [00:46:00] won, uh, the, the Universe Rush Tournament for, for the, um, homestead plot. And, uh, and yeah, I was, I was streaming the entire thing. So there's spectator mode in ruins where you can actually watch games happening as they happen.
So, um, I streamed the whole thing on Twitch, four hours stream. Um, at one point there's like 20 people watching the stream, you know, various people from the community and adjacent communities. And so huge thanks to, to everyone who kind of chimed in. And even if you weren't playing in the tournament, if you were watching, um, it was just awesome to have everyone there.
We had some good banter in the, in the Twitch comments. Uh, jitsu hopped on for a guest host for like an hour or something like, like you, I was just like, oh, hey jitsu. Come, come chat. And all of a sudden I'm like, dude, you can like, you know, no pressure. You can leave and you want. I was like, no man, I'm just hanging out.
We're just, we're just chatting. So we chatted some web three gaming stuff. Um, and, uh, and, and yeah, I mean, it was an amazing event. I was completely blown away by the participation. Everyone seemed to have a great time. There's no technical difficulties, no, no bugs or whatever. And so, um, really appreciative to the community who, [00:47:00] who kind of showed up and, and uh, and kind of like was the lifeblood of the event.
And, uh, and we hoped to have some more tournaments. I was blown away that there was like spectating happening. I was like super impressed too. Cuz I think one of the best features of any game, specifically within this space to move forward is the ability for spectators to watch and understand what's happening.
So, spectator tool paired with people's shoutcasting, it is like music to my freaking ears. So, good job. I love it. I'm, I don't know, it's so great. So the, the reigning, uh, champ ofs TCG is, is vaca for now. That is correct. That is correct. But you know, I, I hope he doesn't take offense to this, but I made sure to stream, um, a few of his games cuz I, I, I do want pe you know, he's got a quite of a, so it's funny, he, he's played a bunch of, uh, of, of a very similar game to this.
So he has a bit of a headstart. So I kind of stream some of his games just to kind of help people get an [00:48:00] idea of, of what he's doing a little bit. Cause yeah, he's definitely the wiz. He's definitely the whiz to beat for sure. Um, but, uh, right, didn't someone ask for like, uh, a stream later on with like, um, people going through some of the matches that people have played and stuff too, if I remember correctly, which is like, yeah, super cool, but like a lot of insight there as well, right?
Yeah. You don't wanna give too much away. We covered that a little bit, but, um, but hey, the stream's up there for people to watch and, uh, and I do hope to, you know, one, this was like a, like, it was a massive success. It was also a massive learning experience. We took away, um, some really key features we want to implement to make future tournaments better.
Um, and, uh, and, um, and yeah, and one of them might, one of them will be a way for people to kind of like, watch recaps of games perhaps. Um, or at least you can watch your own recaps. And so, um, so yeah, I don't know. It was, it was a great time this weekend. Just wanted to, and shoot, shout out to Mead as I just, did he shout out to Matto and the Universe team for, for kind of like.[00:49:00]
You know, it's, it's all le interoperability on so many levels, right? Like, it's not only from the technical perspective, it's from the IP perspective, it's from the media marketing perspective. Like, like the universe team sees the value in what we're doing and, and vice versa. And they're willing to theme a tournament and spon, like sponsor a tournament, right?
Like they're sponsoring a tournament happening in the universe. Like, like that's like, that's it's interoperability at all these different le levels. And, and, um, and I think, uh, at Bear, bear, I think you said this, where like our incentives are just so incredibly aligned, um, that we're just freaking, like, we're just, we're just all snowballing on top of each other, rolling down this massive hill, picking up more people as we go.
Um, and uh, yeah, I don't know. I don't know what's gonna stop us. Damn right. You guys
Bearsnake: both, nothing, nothing's gonna stop us. That's the answer to that question. Yeah.
Elf: Um, yeah, you guys both just represent some of my favorite projects that the cult has built because, [00:50:00] You know, not only are they really fun experiences, but they also add to the lore of the overall project.
I mean, it's, it's, it's a huge world building effort on top of the, the games and the mechanics that you're building. And that's what makes, makes 'em really special. Um, and, and now they're interoperable. I mean, the cult is, yeah, it's unstoppable. You, you guys are so impressive. Um, speaking of community. Um, so yeah.
Thanks guys. Um, there, there's one more thing I wanted to talk about. We have 10 more minutes left. Um, and I've, I've, I, I, I know Dota has, and I know, I mean, I think everybody has really, uh, been thinking about like the development of ai. Um, And, and, and it's, it's really just intersecting with all aspects of humanity.
Um, creative, uh, governmental coding, uh, [00:51:00] I mean, it's just everywhere and it's, it's easy to get terrified. Um, but I, I think, I think there's hope. Um, but I, and I, and I think this is really gonna just sort of be the defining conflict of our time, which is distinguishing humans from machines. Um, you know, you, you, you see in, in Blade Runner, uh, you see Deckard performing kind of a touring test with a potential replicant.
Um, you, you see Star Trek data. His whole character arc is striving to blur the line between the human and the machine. Um, Pinocchio just wants to become a real boy, and it's, it's just, I think it's gonna become more and more important for humanity to authenticate itself in the world of machines. Um, and what's interesting is, is I think we're seeing other old, older, um, these older tests failing, like capture [00:52:00] tests.
Uh, I, I think the AI powered bots are busting through them now. Um, and, and the only tech that I know of right now that is AI proof are cryptographically protected decentralized networks in the form of blockchain. Um, as I said last week, this may be the last tether that humanity has to the digital world.
Um, proof of human has always been and always will be the ultimate consensus mechanism. And as AI art generation becomes more pervasive, I, I encourage you all to play with it and experiment with it and allow it to aid you, but I would recommend to never let it totally speak for you. Um, putting your ruin on the door means putting your ruin on the door.
Show the world who you are, because if you don't show [00:53:00] the world who you are, the machine will render you forgotten. And so it's okay if you, if you wanna just put AI generated experiments, lore, and art in the book of lore. I, I totally understand that these tools are really fun and they're new and they're, they're great to experiment with.
But I would just, you know, just ask yourself in a thousand years, when the book of lore is studied by our future selves, do we want, do you want your mark on the world to be spoken by a machine? Or do you want your mark to be the unique, beautiful, weird, messy, imperfect mark of an organic brain and oh, so precious flesh and blood.
Um, you know, there, there, there was a, a, some, some discourse about having, uh, a button that would generate lore in the book of lore for you, like AI generate your lore with the push of a button. Um, [00:54:00] I do not wanna do that because you're just sort of outsourcing your humanity to a machine. And again, I mean, putting your room on the door means putting your ruin on the door.
Don't let the machine speak for you. Um, and, and I think that just this is what Forgotten Ruins is really all about. You know, you, you summoned a wizard, and now the wizard is gonna summon you to just sort of empower your humanity. Uh, and, and, and put your mark on the world. Um, so I, you know, I, I think, I think we're gonna have to contend with this sort of question more and more as time goes on.
Um, Doda, I know you had a lot of thoughts or, or bear or, or anyone up here actually. Uh,
um,
I think that, like, I'm very optimistic about the near term future of ai insofar as being able to, [00:55:00] uh, help maximize like creative output. Like, I think, um, there, you know, there's a lot of people kind of ringing the alarm with, with regards to, you know, what does this mean for society long term? I do think that like, um, I do think that there's, there's gonna be, um, disruption in terms of like what jobs exist and what people, jobs people have, but I also think it's like a great opportunity, uh, to just sort of like ride the innovation, right?
I think you can't really stop the tide at this point. And so really the only way forward is to try to kind of get a handle on it and try to, um, try to use it. So for example, the other night, um, well, I also think that it's getting stronger than stronger than anyone expects. So, for example, I sw. Uh, the other night I was like in bed and I had this idea [00:56:00] for like a little web app to like help me, uh, practice some music that I was working on and I was able to type a prompt into chat G P T and it generated the, and then like copy and paste the code into replic it all on my phone while I was like in bed and like five minutes.
And it totally worked. And on the one hand it was a bit disconcerting because. Uh, well, it just felt like being, um, being made obsolete so quickly, like faster than anyone expected. But on the other hand, it was like extremely helpful to be able to actually use it and to be able to create something new.
And so I, I think that like what's most helpful is not so much to like, give, um, the AI your voice, but rather to use it as like a, you know, like a writer's room. Like use it as a sort of, um, uh, or as like a, a partner to help you code or a teacher or, um, or also like someone who can help you, like an artist who can help you create or brainstorm.
So I think that the most important thing really is to like, use these tools because you'll [00:57:00] be able to, um, do things that you weren't able to do before. Yeah. I think I completely agree with that. I think utilize, recognizing that it's a tool that can be utilized and that you can actually like, strengthen, like what your own creative processes are and like what, whatever, like, um, like any workflows that you have, I think that's how it should be properly utilized.
I think. Um, I think that it will eventually sort itself out. Um, I think that like, as more people use the technology, as people start being afraid of it, they'll kind of see that, like, in order to make the full use of it, you need to have some input like on like what you're using it for, right? If you just throw kind of garbage in, you're gonna kind of get garbage out.
Um, and so like, if you really want to, to make sure that this technology, um, doesn't kind of, in a sense make us obsolete, you know, it's just kind of like work with it and it'll, you, it'll be able to expand your capabilities beyond what you were able to do before. Um, I think, uh, I like, I've personally, I've played a lot with [00:58:00] ai.
Like I've, I haven't like di diving deep into it. Um, so kind of like, um, For, I used it a little bit to kind of like test out, like for like book of LO concepts. Um, and like some of the stuff was really just kinda like, I've been feeding it like some of my lore and I like a lot of the stuff that spits out.
I don't quite like, but there's some good concepts in there that are like perhaps concepts that I had like floating around. But it was, it was like fill in some gaps that I had on like, like for instance, I asked for like, um, Like I had for like, um, like, uh, what, what are some, what are some mechanics you would be able to, um, to explain, um, in a way of like how quantum mushrooms function?
Like, you know, from scientific per, from, um, quantum science perspective. But like, I have like a lot of the concepts down, like in my head, right? But like it was able to like expand on it a little bit more and fill in some gaps. And like, a lot of it was like, some of it was stuff that I didn't really like, like click with, but some of it was good things I was able to think on and go like, yeah, you know what?
I think that's really cool. And I can probably expand from that angle. And it's not as if like, you know, I'm gonna be thinking like I'm gonna use that as just a copy and paste it into like what I'm doing. But it, it's [00:59:00] a great spark of like imagination and getting it and like building off of that, you know?
Um, I think it's really great. I think that, you know, As people start using it, they'll under, they'll be less afraid of it when they see that. It's really like, it builds off of who you are really. Like at the end of the day, it's a tool that you're gonna be using and I think everyone's gonna be using at some point, um, in some way.
And just like the INS is like the internet, you know, like the internet expands our already to like, the ability to pull out your phone and like just Google like information that's, that's pretty much superhuman capabilities in terms of like what you were able to do a hundred years ago, right? And this just takes out the next level and it just adds on to like what we are capable of.
Well, and I think that that's another piece of advice that I give to anybody who's sort of like looking at AI right now, is it actually does take some work to learn how to use chat G B T. Uh, it takes some, some work to like take the time and research what other prompts people are doing. [01:00:00] You know, if you feel like you tried and you're not impressed with any of the output.
Um, I, I would suggest that you may be like, I. Aren't putting in the best input or putting in the most effective input. You know, one of the most important things to do is, is to like provide it with examples. The prompts that you can input are a lot longer than I think most people expect. And, um, uh, if you give it examples, it actually performs quite well.
So there's a few like repos and websites that show you examples of prompts that you can use. And I think it's worth learning that. I know for example, like when I watch my parents Google or when I have in the early days, it, it almost felt like, it's like, well no wonder you can't find what you want dad.
Like, you're not like there. You need to search a different way. Right? And we have that kind of like, um, without even thinking about it. And I think chat GBT is the same thing. You basically have to learn how to prompt, um, to, to, to, to be as specific as, as you can to get what you want out of it. I
Bearsnake: heard, I heard that there, um, Paying like $350,000 for prompt [01:01:00] engineers, talented prompt engineers, which makes sense.
So it's a good skill to learn. Yeah. Yeah.
Elf: I wanna say also, like from like, cuz I've been also like experimenting a lot with like AI imagery. I'm sure I've been posting like discord in like a little bit in Twitter. I've been, what I've been actually generating has honestly been like thousands of images and I've only really been kinda like showcasing like, you know, like cherry pick ones that I like.
There's a lot of great ones that I've made. But like the process of like me learning how to like actually get, you know, um, I use stable diffusion, which is like, it's, it's like you can run it locally rather than, um, mid journey, which is like, you know, hosted on like server side. Um, and with that local hosting you get like, a lot of it's, it's more complex and you get like a lot more
did we lose Matt, which I was getting. And like the, the process of learning like what to tweak and like training models. Like dear, like, I've trained models on Mag Devon now, and like I can spit [01:02:00] out inputs of like, I can get outputs of her like very, like reliably, like 99% of the time I'll get a good output.
Like I had to like learn how to actually utilize the tool for like, for building that. And like if I, if like I showed my prompts, my prompts are like, for like a lot of my prompts, they're like hundreds of words long, thousands of words long for like the negative prompts complying with the positive prompts and then like the weights that I put onto different prompts.
Cuz you can like wait, like if you want like a certain prompt to like have more impact on what your generation is and such. Um, and like all that stuff is like learning. So like, I know, like at it's, it's easy, especially at first it was easy to kind of call out as like, oh, you're just like typing a sentence into something and like it spits out something amazing.
And it's like, you can do that and like, it will probably spit like a nice, like, you know, a nice image where, but if you really wanna like, really take advantage of it, it's gonna take some learning on like how exactly it's functioning. And even like learning like the, like the tech behind it, like learning how it does what it does gives you a better [01:03:00] idea of what you should put into it to get the output that you need.
Yeah. Matto, you're doing some really awesome stuff. With, with these AI tools, um, especially in regards to your wizard, really, really leveraging it to bring, to bring your, uh, mags devvin to life. And I love that. And you know, I I I would encourage everybody to really explore these tools and, uh, use them in, in whatever way you see fit.
Um, but what, what I was really just trying to say is, there may come a time where there's a sort of flipp where the AI is using us as a tool. It's, it's, it's, it's gonna be more than, it's, it's, it's gonna transcend it's, it's, uh, it's tool status. Um, and so what I'm trying to say is this, it is for this reason that asserting your humanity is going to be more important than ever before.[01:04:00]
Putting your mark on the world is critical to, um, not being forgotten by the machine. Uh, and, and, and so in that regard, you don't even necessarily have to have to use the ai. All I'm really trying to tell you is just create, speak your truth, put your mark on the world. And I think Forgotten Ruins represents this human ray of hope, um, that that is inside of all of us.
Um, so don't let the machines scare you because you have magic. Um, and, uh, speaking of that, uh, I know we're over time, but we've got some really, um, amazing cold content this week. Um, and so I just, I just wanna go over these before we, before we leave, um, Uh, first up, and this was actually one of my favorite ones, uh, small Protect, uh, shared this, this beautiful piece of artwork made by F S o Mallow Art, um, and it's called Battle at Chroma Krysttal Row. Uh, first of all, I'm so glad to see Chroma, a piece of cult content.
This might be the first I've seen. Um, and it's got, it's got a few wizards and a warrior in it. Uh, and it's got a dragon in it, and it's just so beautiful. Um, I love the colors, really dynamic composition. It's got rainbows in it. It's, it's just beautiful. Um, another one of my favorite pieces is, uh, eye draw animation.
Made this really great. Um, It looks sort of like a heavy metal, uh, album cover. Um, and it's, uh, um, it's got a warrior in it and it, it's [01:06:00] just, it's like, it's, it's funny and, and sort of, uh, triumphant and badass all at the same time. Uh, just a, just a, an amazing warrior with a gigantic sword and, and I think it's a rattlesnake.
Uh, just a really nice piece. Um, another unbelievably nice piece is by the, the prolific Why Sam The Viper. Um, it looks like some kind of a, a, a, a card or maybe like a stained glass window.

Elf: pleasing. Yeah, it's just like an, again, a totally new style. Um, uh, just, yeah, it's just beautiful.
I, I, I love it so much. Um, Another piece I just love, uh, artists of the Rock, uh, is doing this sort of, uh, old style rubber hose animation, uh, animation style, um, that you would, that's like, that you'd find in like the 1930s. Um, and, uh, [01:07:00] she illustrated, uh, I think it's Slim's Wife and Swim, both, both in one piece.
Uh, this is one of my favorite animation styles. Um, when I, back when I was in animation school, I used to mostly draw on this style. Um, another beautiful piece from the Candace Coven, uh, which is a project by town Del Rio. Uh, it's a, uh, turnaround of Mags, CHIO of the hills. Just a beautiful, beautiful piece.
Um, and, uh, speaking of beautiful, uh, artsy and Daniella Lutra made a really great piece of, uh, of a green toad. Um, always good stuff coming out of Daniela Lutra. Uh, OSMA bro made a beautiful piece. It says it's inspired by the Hall of Cats. Um, but it just looks like a beautiful painting, a pixel painting of a window to me, although I guess I do see a, a furry cat in there.
Um, so, so I guess there's the connection. [01:08:00] Uh, uh, speaking of furry, um, frog eater dropped an amazing piece on us this week. Uh, a shaggy cobal, um, AKA a Busin cobol. Um, I think, uh, Jitsu was using this as a, as a P F P for a while. Um, frog Eater is just becoming a real cult content Powerhouse. Powerhouse. Um, and

Yeah. Yeah. It's so good frog. Just like I, I, I feel like he, he makes these in like 20 minutes and they're, these just fully rendered 3D models. They're so good. [01:09:00] The eyes. Uh, one of my favorite, uh, mark Twain novels. Um, these are just beautiful drawing. They, they might be AI generated, but they're still beautiful.
I, uh, I, I really love the colors. Um, and then our good friend Santes, uh, has some really nice mid journey pieces. Um, I'm really excited to show Santes his 3D wizard. Uh, it is done, uh, but not yet released. Um, and then, uh, red Beard Nft shared an adorable wizard made by, I'm guessing his child. Um, Just, I, I, I [01:10:00] love kids drawings.
They're, they're, they're just so raw and beautiful and the colors in this one are, are just fantastic. Um, and then Emma, uh, Emma, one of our top three meme queens in the whole cult, uh, back with another one of her great movie posters, uh, the House of Magic. Um, and then last but not least, our very own Mag Devon with a, a beautiful drawing of, uh, of, of, of Mag Devin.
