Wizard Wednesday Ep. 47, July 20th 2022

=

Elf: [00:00:00] It is Wednesday. We are wizards. We are also dynamite. It is time for our weekly cult meeting, wizard Wednesday. This is Elf and Dota channeling in from the Quantum Downs. Uh, I don't know where Bear Snake is. Um, oh wait. There he is.

Cult Member: Hi bear.

Elf: Hello. Good of you to join us. Uh, um,

Cult Member: I, I figured

Elf: I'd stop. Uh, okay.

We've got a huge day. I'm feeling very chatty today. I've written, I've got a lot prepared. Um, but first, uh, just a few housekeeping announcements. Um, we will be represented at Comic-Con, uh, in two days. Uh, that is July 22nd through the 24th. Um, no,

Dotta: no, no, no, no, no. [00:01:00] Tomorrow. Tomorrow.

Elf: Okay. Through Sunday. Oh, okay.

21st and 24th. Oh yeah, that's right. That's right. My bad. Um, we were close. And then Bear, we, we have a booth, right? We have a booth. We're sharing a booth with Bliss on Tap, who's our comic book publisher.

Cult Member: Um,

Elf: and, uh, and then every day, starting tomorrow, we have a whole street team of really slick looking, uh, cloaked wizards running around, giving away a comic book.

Um, and so that's gonna be really exciting. If you're gonna be a comic-con, I'm sure you'll see them. And if, yeah, and if you, and if you have a badge and, and actually going in, our booth number is 55, 33. And on Friday, 11 to two, Riley Brown, who is the, um, cover artist, will be signing copies of the comic at the booth.

So comes stop on by. Riley is so freaking talented. I don't think we give him enough love and acknowledgement, but I'm [00:02:00] so glad he's working with

Dotta: us. Tell, will

Elf: you tell, tell the group what, um, what's next

Cult Member: for us and him?

Elf: Well, we're working on issue one, right? Yeah. The next one. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's, uh, it's in production.

I think actually the script is written, so, yeah. Uh, the, the, the next issue is, uh, in production. And I, and I think it'll be given away free as well. Right. At least to cult members. Uh,

Cult Member: yeah, I mean,

Elf: if if you're a cult member, you always get goodies. So yeah, definitely get free one. And then, um, yeah, and also regarding Riley, he actually just turned in the final ink for the cover of issue number one, and it looks fantastic.

There's gonna be some, some wizards out there that are really excited. They'll be excited to see the cover, so it'll be fun to get it out there. Yep, yep. Yeah, the cover looks amazing. Um, so yeah, so that's Comic-Con. And then, um, we, uh, another random piece of news [00:03:00] is we put, um, okay, so we've got a lot of merch out there now.

Um, and we, this seems so basic, but we finally got a link to merch on our website. So big news, um, for something seemingly pretty fundamental, but, but yeah, like our, our mech store is looking really good and, um, You know, merch is actually becoming one of my favorite things that we're doing at Magic Machine because if you think it looks good now just wait another like few months.

We've got some really cool stuff coming down the, the pike. I know Dota, you're very excited for it. Oh man. Every day I have like

Dotta: three different ideas for merch. I think like having physical representations of anything forgotten ruins, I love it so much. And um, yeah, I think putting the link on the website really represents, uh, a big step forward for us in just this idea of like having a persistent merch store.

I mean, as much as you see it all the [00:04:00] time, organizationally, it's a lot involved. Everyone, you know, Locke and Bear and, and now Gene. There's so many people that kind of involved to sort of designing and, uh, putting it up and dealing with inventory and shipping it out. And so yeah, I think we're just super excited to start building out the designs.

I think. Being able to have these, like every design that we create now becomes like a permanent idea that can exist in, in the world. Right. And I don't know how many people I've seen who, uh, who aren't like necessarily core cult members that love the quantum style T-shirt. Yes. So I think you can see more, more like that.

And then, you know, apparel is very, like, straightforward. Well, it's not easy, but like, it's a well-trodden path in terms of merchandising. We are, we have, in the laboratory we're developing some other physical products that are a bit more custom. So stay tuned for those.

Elf: Yeah. That, oh, go ahead. Be,

Cult Member: oh, just real fast

Elf: on the, on the merch stuff, the stuff that's in the store now, [00:05:00] um, I know that there was, um, a mix up in terms of, uh, comic books not getting, um, put in to the order.

So that's being rectified and being sent out to everybody. Um, that bomb. So apologize, but they will be on their way. Just, uh, just bear with us, pun intended. Um, you know, it's, it's, we do what, we're doing a lot of stuff over here and I think every, uh, every step of the way will just get better and better.

So anyway, it's, uh, you know, everybody will get their comic books. Yep. Um, yeah, I was just gonna say that that quantum style shirt has been traveling far and wide. I'm seeing it really spread. Um, it's one of our coolest piece pieces of merch, I think. Um, and, and, and, and honestly, the, the comic book is really spreading far and wide.

Um, we're getting a lot of like attention because of the comic book, just in like other meetings that we're having. It's great. Yeah, we'll like [00:06:00] drop off a pile

Dotta: in like a, in a meeting that we have, uh, and then like have a video chat a couple weeks later and someone will hold it up who like wasn't in that meeting.

They're like, oh yeah, the team gave me one of your comics. And so it's just amazing to like, You know, someone who has a relatively clean desk, they have the comic on their desk, and it's just a really good feeling.

Elf: Like, like products are, like a

Dotta: physical memory, something like that. And so to be able to have a, a physical comic is like keeping it top of mind.

Elf: Yep. Yep. Um, so yeah. So yeah, we'll, we'll have more fun news about merch in the coming weeks or months, but, um, it's, it's really starting to ramp up. Um, and then I wanted to touch, touch briefly on the Wikipedia. Um, still one of the best things, the colt that's ever happened to the Colt. Um, I want to give, uh, acknowledgement to small protect who has been, uh, just been a true wizzy scribe.

Um, the recent entry on the gate to the [00:07:00] seventh realm is just fantastic. Um, Did you wanna say something, daughter?

Dotta: Well, I just think, yeah, no, go ahead and dig in on that, but I think I can definitely see us doing like a highlighting, uh, wizzy Padia page of the week on Wizard Wednesday, because, uh, there's just a lot there.

But go ahead, talk about the

Elf: drama. I didn't mean to interrupt you. Yeah, no, it's fine. Um, yeah, and then just like, you know, last week we mentioned the, the Eternal Rose Page, which is also just beautiful. And I, I, I mentioned I'd wanna make, I wanted to make a few small tweaks to that. Um, I did. And like, honestly, it didn't take much.

You probably won't even notice that the tweaks that I made. Um, but yeah, I, I think it's a pretty good model, which is just like, you know, start very, um, broad and generalized, and then as the page reads down, then you can get more specific and attach, uh, specific wizards and specific lore to it. Um, but yeah, I just, I love the Wikipedia.

Some other

Dotta: folks [00:08:00] who have done a great job contributing there, um, would be zuki. He's been working on it. Um, I've also seen changes from, uh, uh, well hoot and then also Kel has, um, started putting in, uh, some of his Wizard Wednesday notes in there. So he just recently did a page on like Wizard Wednesday from I think last week.

And like, uh, yeah, I'm talking to him about maybe being able to do it more, um, more on the regular. So yeah, there's just the, the WPA has been so helpful. Like we were just talking, I don't think this is secret. You know, we've been talking to Nifty Island and collaborating with them. Um, I'm sure you've seen the video of our Warrior, um, in their game and, and they were talking to us saying, oh, we needed to like, uh, we're gonna build some custom items for you guys.

Um, do you have like any item ideas? And I literally just sent them the wiki page to the items and uh, they were like, oh, this is incredible. This is so helpful. Yeah, we have tons of ideas here. And so, um, yeah. It's been really fun. No, it's, it's been

Elf: really fun to see everyone's writing [00:09:00] down. It's, it's, it's such an incredibly useful tool.

I, I think we mentioned this last week or the week before, but like, you know, we have so many different, uh, cohorts of people working on reverse content. We've got the game studio, we got the comic writers, we got the show people. And instead of like building a deck about all the Lord of the Forgotten Ruins and sending it to each person and customizing it for them, it's been so easy to just send wiz Wikipedia pages.

Um, and yeah, I mean, it's just like such a crucial part of, of world building. Well, and like Mado just

Dotta: posted that article today in the secret tower that was talking about how the Pokemon company is looking for like a Pokemon archivist and it says, uh, the Pokemon company is looking for an archivist to create.

The internal, uh, Pokemon Company Archive and Museum. And as the archive is, your job will be to develop company archive to catalog all the lore, both in game and without. Right. And so now Pokemon is like 20 years in realizing like, [00:10:00] oh, shoot, I mean they've done a good job indexing their characters, but they're also recognizing the legitimacy of lore that happens, like outside of stuff that they create.

And so, yeah, it's just, I'm glad we're

Elf: getting a head start here. For sure. They're, they're finally recognizing that lores at the core. Yeah, exactly. Um, so yeah, this is actually a really good segue into the one big topic I wanted to touch on today. And it's regarding the, well, a place in the universe that we rarely talk about, and it's the, uh, the cave of the platonic shadow.

Um, so allow me to go on a little bit of a monologue here. Um, But it's, uh, it's actually an extremely relevant, uh, place. Uh, it's, it's very core to what the entire project of Forgotten Ruins is about. Um, and so it's, it's basically a reference to Plato's, the allegory of the cave. And I'm sure most of you know what that is, but if, if you don't, just really quick, [00:11:00] the, the, the basic story is, okay.

So there's some prisoners that are chained inside of a cave, and they are facing the back wall of the cave. Uh, and so they cannot see into the outside world. Um, so the only information these prisoners have of the outside world are the shadows that are projected onto the back wall. Um, and so since this is the only thing they know of the world, they believe that it's an accurate representation of the world outside.

They believe that these shadows are reality itself. Um, and so essentially this parable is illustrating the difference between a person's idea of reality and reality itself. Um, okay, so then the prisoners break free of their chains and they escape the cave, and they begin a journey of enlightenment where they learn the truth of the physical three-dimensional world.

Um, that's, that's the, the story simplified in a nutshell. Now for me, what [00:12:00] I really, what I really like about this story is, um, their journey towards truth, uh, started with a one dimensional simple representation of the objects in the real world. Uh, it started with these shadows on the wall, which are essentially ruins on the door.

The shadow was the creative primitive. Um, and so then as Plato goes on in his career, um, he develops this really complex theory of forms, um, and he, uh, explores this concept, uh, that the physical objects in the world are actually not. As real or as truthful, um, as the ideas of these objects. Um, he says, to find truth, you must find the non-physical essence of a thing.

Okay, so we're looking for the essence of a thing to find truth. Um, and this is the foundation of a philosophical doctrine called Essentialism, uh, which is the view that objects have a set of attributes that are necessary [00:13:00] to their, their identity. Now, hopefully, I'm not boring you, but this is where I forgotten ruins comes in.

Um, we talk a lot about how are characters are expressed in media, and one big question is, how are we gonna keep all these stories aligned? How are we gonna define canon? How are, how is this all gonna. Um, observe continuity and how are we gonna stay true to who these characters are? And so my solution, um, is, is taking a lesson from the cave of the plat platonic shadow.

It's, um, it's that we only need to express the essence of everyone's character because that is their truth. The superficial details here and there are not as important, uh, to the overarching meta-narrative. Yes, those details add flavor and they are super important to the individual stories. But in the meta-narrative, and by that I mean the [00:14:00] entire lore infrastructure of the game, the comic, the show, et cetera, uh, we are just looking for the intrinsic essence of these characters.

Um, And so for example, when you look at like, uh, the Universe game, which is just looking awesome, um, there's gonna be a lot of details in that game, which, uh, might change when the show comes around. Um, but it's the essence of these things that remains constant. So, like the Great Al Obelisk, for example, um, the By Sonic team designed this really gorgeous version of the Great Al Obelisk.

It's got this huge owl sculpture at the bottom of it. It looks amazing. Um, but the designers in the show might design it totally differently. Um, but the essence of what the great Al Obelisk is is i e an ob Lisk with a connection to an al should remain the same. Um, and, and honestly, this, this idea goes far beyond Forgotten ruins.

I see this in a [00:15:00] character in human history from Zeus to Robin Hood to Wonder Woman to the Ninja Turtles. Like just the Ninja Turtles, for example. There's like six different animated series of, of the Ninja Turtles. There's like two different film cannons. There's several comic book se series. But in each of these iterations, um, the essence stays the same.

Uh, but details are radically changed. E there's even origin stories that are changed in, in these different iterations of the Ninja Turtles. Um, so, you know, it's almost like it's more interesting, uh, in a way to not just look at the changes, but look at what stays the same. Look at what the essence of all these characters are.

You know, it's, it's like the shadow stays the same across all these media expressions. Um, and you know, and this is what I can see happening for Forgotten Ruins characters. It's like, It's like O created a really specific story about his wizard, [00:16:00] and maybe that specific story wasn't expressed in the comic, but the essence of adapt Adrian of the rock is still being expressed in the comic.

Um, yeah. Yeah. I, I'm also reminded of

Dotta: something that I, I became aware from the one who rings, uh, a few months ago where he shared, um, there was like, I don't know if you remember, but like, Sony Pictures was part of the, like WikiLeaks hack years back, and one of the things that came out of it was like a character obligations, sheep for Spider-Man.

Yep. And it's, uh, and it's like the Carey integrity, character integrity obligations, right? So Spider-Man, you know, has to be male. He, his parents are absent from his life during his childhood. Uh, he gains, uh, his powers by being bitten by a spider. He designs his first costume, and it's read and blue. You know, there's, there's this list of things that are kind of like specific to what makes Spider-Man, spider-Man, but at the same time, you can like, fill in the, the details outside of that.

So I, I, it's very interesting to think about like, you know, what are the, uh, character integrity obligations of, uh, you [00:17:00] know, Zuki or the one who rings. Uh,

Elf: not standing. Yeah, no, that's exactly right. Yeah. It's, um, you know, the, the further I dig into this, the more I'm realizing like there's way more characters that change than there are the ones that stay like the same details in all.

Um, so, you know, I I I'm seeing that, uh, Matto actually is, is mentioning Harley Quinn from Batman. Um, Harley Quinn is a fascinating case study. Um, you know what we have you even had Harley Quinn in

Dotta: your notes before

Elf: he even mentioned it. That's No, no, it's great. So yeah, so like, like let's, it's like a mind reader.

Yeah. Quantum synchronicity, especially from Mado. Um, no, so like, to recap, like, like Harley Quinn, like, she was totally absent from Batman lore for like the first 50 years, and then just some random writer on the animated TV show put her in as like a SA side character. And now she's a major character, extremely, one of the most popular [00:18:00] characters in the whole Batman franchise.

And she's, she's got her own films and, you know, I, I can see like anybody in the cult, like having their Harley Quinn just break out. Matt Matto, you just came up. Did you wanna say anything?

Madotsuki: Oh, no, you pretty much said exactly what I was thinking of that. Like, she started, essentially, she just came off as like a side character within in the, the anime series.

And then, you know, she became, she's had so many different origin stories too, like the origin story that she has from the, from the anime series, completely different origin stories of like, you know, the suicide squad film or anything like that. Yep. But the essence of her character is still the same, you know, they still keep then if she has her connection with the Joker, um, whether she's going out with him or not, they kind of like play around with that concept too.

Whether she's like his, she, he's her ex or whatever, but they still, they, the core concept of what her character is still resonates and like, he still understand like what they're trying to portray with her character every time she comes up. So even though there's different writers working with her and there's different concepts that they're, that they're playing around with, it still doesn't feel like it's not Harley Quinn [00:19:00] because like the.

The writers fully understand the character that you're working with, and if they wanna take Creative Liberty, prefer to express her in a way that they feel works best for the story that they're working with. Um, the character's core, like, is so strong that it just, it works well with it regardless. So I see.

Like Exactly, yeah. I see that working with exactly like this, you know, I'm sure that any, any comics that a magic machine comes up with or any comics that anybody in the cult comes up with, they can interpret the same wizards or the same warriors in completely different ways, but they'll, as long as they stay true to the core of like what the concepts are, it will still be recognizable as that character.

Even if they're like, you know, they're not drawn the same way or they have a different origin or there's, they interact with their, you know, maybe they interact with their, uh, familiar in a different way. But regardless, you can stick to the same concepts and it'll be still recognizable and I'm sure everybody will enjoy the story that comes from them.

Elf: Hundred percent. Yep. Yeah. Yep. Keep the [00:20:00] lore at the core. Um, you know, a another character that's really standing out to me, um, is, uh, oh, speaking of Nosferatu, that's who I was just gonna mention, but they just requested to speak. Um, I'm gonna bring Nosferatu up. Uh, little nods.

Cult Member: Hey. Yeah, no, I was just, uh, getting up here cause I

Madotsuki: agree.

You know, that's kind of everything that Nosferatu

Elf: is

Madotsuki: about too, is everybody's

Cult Member: nosferatu, ishmm all things and all people in all ways. He's, you know,

Elf: you've seen

Madotsuki: my anime version, you've seen, uh, all the different interpretations.

Cult Member: Yes, man. Did you

Dotta: guys take a look at Elf's Wizard Wednesday notes or something?

We wrote these before this episode started, and in the notes, uh, it is the quantum, uh, or sorry, it's platonic cave. Harley Quinn and Nosferatu in

Elf: that order. So let's go. [00:21:00] Quantum synchronicity. I'm telling you. No, let, let me give my little bit on Nosferatu. I'm, I'm so glad you came up. Um, yeah, I, I, I've just been thinking a lot about Nosferatu for like, the past month or so, and in like, like just in no particular order.

So here, here's what I just find so fascinating about it, is like, number one, it's already a public domain character. So it's already decentralized in a sense in that nobody owns him. So everybody owns him and can monetize him. Um, Nosferatu is actually meed from Bram Stoker's Dracula. So, so like Fw Meau, the, uh, the German expressionist filmmaker, he wanted to do a Dracula film, but he didn't have the IP rights of, of, for Dracula at the time.

So he Memetically created Nosferatu, and then ironically, 70 years later, In the film, Bram Stoker's Dracula, van Helsing mentions Nosferatu as he's [00:22:00] describing the origin of Dracula as if Nosferatu proceeded Dracula. But in the way that's kind of correct because the film Dracula, uh, comes after the no Ferrato film.

Um, and then to, to bring it full or a Borow Circle. Now, now Dracula himself is public, no domain. Um, and then, and then, okay, so then the No Ferrato Forgotten Room's token, uh, is owned by none other than the most notorious meme crew on the internet, more on capital. Um, and, and what they are doing with Nosferatu is quite, quite incredible.

I mean, just like, look at the PFP right now, that's Lil Nas, okay? Based on Nosferatu. And that design is based on one of the oldest memes in modern culture. Uh, the, the Leroy was here meme, um, which is just freaking amazing. And then furthermore, like any [00:23:00] good meme, uh, moron capital has made him very irreverent and almost iconoclastic.

It's like he's almost self-destructive. He's like destroying the icon of the vampire itself. But the beautiful twist is that a vampire is immortal. Immortal. You can't kill a vampire. It's undead. So you can't kill a meme. I mean, like, the vampire meme is just like ages old already. Um, so it's just, I don't know, I just go through these like twisted minefields as I'm thinking about Lil Nas and, and like, I just think he's in really good hands right now.

Um, you guys are even doing this hilarious like tu fu thing. It, it just looks great.

Cult Member: Hey, uh, while

Madotsuki: we're talking about that, can I, can I make an announcement real quick?

Cult Member: Yeah, go for it. Sweet. So, starting Monday. We opened the contest. So anybody that wants to submit

Madotsuki: an anime

Cult Member: version of their wizard, you can DM it

Elf: to

Cult Member: the Moron Global Twitter.

Madotsuki: And at the end of the [00:24:00] contest, we're deciding how many certain winners are gonna get their, uh, their design published on our next round of merchandise coming out. And we'll be receiving a portion of whatever we make from it, so artists will be rewarded. Um, a portion's gonna go to the House of Wizards Dow.

It's, we've got a couple designs already up and it's gonna be, it's gonna, it is freaking awesome.

Elf: It is freaking awesome. The whole merch line you guys have going, like, even that fanny pack, like, like I, I mentioned this in a past Wizard Wednesday, but that Fanny Pack really spoke to, um, one of the Hollywood people that we were meeting with, and they, they loved it.

I, I, next time we meet them, I, I need to bring them on. You guys. You guys should, uh, I dunno. I'm gonna, I'm gonna get one from you to, to give this guy one, but, but yeah, just Lil Naz is one of my new favorite characters. Um, so well done. Um, I think, uh, Don Juan Devia. Hey.

Cult Member: Hey. There [00:25:00]

Elf: pretty much covered,

Cult Member: uh, the most of it, but as far as the, uh, you're talking about the four elements of a character I was gonna say, and the research I've been doing for my, I've been looking into, actually wound up looking into

Elf: Mesopotamian

Cult Member: history and one of the things you see constantly is like character

Elf: contradictions almost.

Yep.

Cult Member: And some of the gods that they have, like one in particular, and Anna, they have so many, they've got

Elf: all the core elements covered,

Cult Member: but. Like y'all were saying, you can, you've got a lot of leeway, and this is the oldest, some of the oldest characters known to mankind. So I just wanted to throw that little tbit in there for everybody.

Elf: No, you're, you're absolutely right. Like Greek mythology, Norse mythology, all these like ancient mythological systems, their own characters have like contradictions in their so-called cannons and just, you know, but, but they preserve the essence of who [00:26:00] these characters are through all the, the, the stories that they tell.

Um, it's, uh, it's really, it's really fun and great. Um, but yeah. Anyway, um, I've got a, there's been a lot of really great cult content this week as well. Um, unless Deter Bear Mado or anyone has anything else to say on that, somehow

Dotta: I missed that. There's a little no tattoo. Uh, I, I just realized this sounds point to their Twitter.

Elf: Oh yeah, yeah. There's a lot of lil nice tattoos going around. Oh

Dotta: man. Amazing.

Elf: Yeah, I have no tattoos, but I might get a little Nas tattoo. Oh,

Dotta: wow.

Elf: Um, but, uh, yeah. Let's, let's talk about some cult content. That's good. Really great stuff this week. Um, you know, I don't even know where to start. I think, uh, let me start with this feral [00:27:00] thing. I have no idea what this is, but I've been seeing what

Cult Member: is it? What is it?

Elf: Yeah. Like I've been seeing a guy in a, in a helmet.

Uh, I guess he's called the mercenary. I, I don't know. I, I don't like, I legitimately don't know what this is. Does anyone here know what the feral, untamed mercenary thing is? At first, I thought it was a, was a, a mags Waze, one who rings joint, but, but baby not. Um, D 20 dot eth. I, I see you reacting. I feel like maybe, you know something if you want to come up, come up and, and, and explain it.

Um, but yeah, anyway, that, that's a thing that's going on. Still don't know what it is. Um, oh wait. There he is. Hold on. Let's see. I'm, I'm gonna wait for him to connect.

Madotsuki: Hey

Elf: guys,

Cult Member: I have no idea.

Elf: So I've been seeing that.[00:28:00]

Okay, awesome. Also, there's, don't they have like a gang run?

Dotta: Uh, similarly, I don't know what the Gank project is, but they have this really killer like S N E S intro. Um, and I, I noticed there's a little Easter egg that said insert one baby wizard. So I assume maybe, uh, that's a clue.

Elf: Yeah. No, I, I, yeah, I've seen that too.

And that's another thing. I don't know what it is, but it looks interesting. Um, uh, there is something, I do know what it is though, which is, uh, the heroes of Cumberland, um, which looks like a whole new character set created by Maxwell. Um, and they look gorgeous, I have to say. Um, I was actually just talking to Maxwell in the dms and, um, I [00:29:00] basically begged him to put Cumberland on the univer map because I, I don't know, I want it to be part of the univer and, and I, I think he's, I think we've both agreed to put it somewhere in, uh, the Brown Wizard Delta, which is perfect cuz that's like very fertile farmland for these like veggie people to live.

Um, Maxwell, I don't know if you're here, but if you want to come up and say anything about your collection. Oh wait, there he is. He's got a, he's got an ice cream cone as his P F P. Um, yeah, I'm loving it. Like again, if anything good comes out of the whole cucumber dog fiasco, like that was it. Um, but uh, but yeah.

And then speaking of putting things on the universe map, um, Mado and Bread are creating the penguin capital, uh, Mado, do you wanna tell us anything about that?

Madotsuki: Yeah. Uh, penguin Capital is, um, the location that I made when I was, uh, consulting out. I was concepting out of my honorary warrior William. She has like her little battle [00:30:00] penguin that I I'm so happy that you made that, by the way, and put it, it made it to collection for other people.

And then, um, one thing I, that I noticed that is that there's a lot of, um, warriors that have like the, the of Penguins origin. Yes. Some of them are, seem like they're very antagonistic towards penguins. And so like, it kind of strengthened the concept that I had cuz I originally had the concept that she like protects.

Initially it was like, kind of like a, like a huddle of penguins. Um, but then I expanded out, I saw how many, uh, warriors were that were against penguins and I was like, okay, I think these penguins need more of like a, a home base that they can find safety in. So I, um, I worked out with Brad and we, I, I told her my concept of it and very thankful for her for, uh, creating a Pixar for that.

And, um, Making like a, making like a small preview of how penguin capital looks. Um, and it's supposed to be like, it's like a, uh, the area that I imagined to be, um, somewhere near the tundra or in the tundra. And I imagine that the [00:31:00] tundra, it's, it sounds like a very fierce name, so I imagine that there's lots of fierce enemies in there.

Like, so I thought of like maybe like, like frost noms or like Yetis and such. And aside from, so aside from the Warriors are after the penguins, I imagine all these other creatures probably enjoy like, you know, picking on the penguins as well and using 'em for like meat or whatever. So, um, it's a nice little like fortified, uh, town or city that's, that's made for the penguins.

Um, there's obviously, there's other warriors and, and other humans that live there as well. It's not just penguins, but, um, penguin lovers can kind of like find safety there. It's, it's surrounded by mountains so that way it's a bit harder for anything to get in. And, um, my warrior is one of the protectors of them, champions that, you know, anything tries to break their way in.

She'll be there at Frontline to, to help protect them. And in return they get, like, there's tons of exotic fish that kind of live only in the area. So like, they kind of like, so it creates like another, uh, opportunity for, you know, maybe if they don't, if any [00:32:00] invaders don't want the penguins, maybe they want the fish that are found exclusively in that area.

So, um, there's a lot of protecting that they have to do. And yeah, I'm just, I'm happy to expand out the area. I'm happy to, to create this, the, um, create a new area on the universe map. I remember was saying before how, um, he wanted to encourage more people to, there's lots of areas on the map that are named, but there's tons of areas in between that aren't, and that's a great opportunity for us to, you know, create lower around areas and then, you know, find, find places that, that we want to create stories for and build those out.

And maybe all the people wanna join in as well. I've, I've had some people who have DM me. Say, you know, they're, they have, you know, a penguin associated warrior that they're, that they'd like to join in on the fund and, you know, ask me if I can include them in the lore. Um, there's already been one warrior, um, that has put out a wanted poster for penguins.

I thought it was pretty funny. Apparently a ba a a a band of penguin [00:33:00] bandits found their way into, uh, and stole her prize sword. And so she's a, she's a weapon less warrior. I found that extremely embarrassed and I saw them. Uh, I was gonna incorporate that into my law as well. There is definitely going to be, uh, a gang of bandit penguins that live in capital as well, that go around weapons and any, any objects of value that they find

Elf: matto.

I love it. That's so much fun. Um, Like, like when you first suggested a penguin, uh, companion, I was like, I was like, damn it, penguins are not very warrior-like, but then I remembered. Uh, that Batman movie where there was literally like penguins carrying around rockets on their backs.

Madotsuki: Right, right. Yeah. I I was gonna, so like my, the for instance, I, I'm glad came the battle penguins cause like it gives them like a lot more uptake, you know, um, opportunity to be more fierce. [00:34:00] But, um, like for my concept for the way that I have my bi companion penguin is that he, similar to how, how my Warrior uses a giant frozen tuna.

Um, he uses, um, like frozen, like I guess you just like sardine any small kind of fish and kinda like, uses him as like kind of throwing knives. Like, you know, they have like short kit, so like, so like, you know, stuff like that. Like you can definitely get creative of how you, how you, you know, you wanna use your compan and stuff.

So like, even something that I'm sure people who have like ducks, they'll be able to find ways to make their duck extremely fierce. You know, totally duck, duck that had like metal feathers and like cuts you up with them.

Elf: I, I'm so glad that you're developing the northern area of the universe. Um, because I mean, cuz like, here's the thing, like, like I, okay, I have the whole map drawn.

I just haven't like dropped like that far north area yet. Um, so I mean, by all means like keep dropping like arctic lore and, and you know, it can really like shape that top part of the [00:35:00] map.

Madotsuki: Yeah, I was thinking that too. I, I noticed that when you expanded the map, you actually didn't include any of the arctic areas yet.

So I was like, okay, hey, it's right for, for the lower building. And I'm sure like I, in my head I kind of have like some of the areas mapped out, like the snow and the tundra and stuff, like near each other. But I'm sure like if later on you drop the map and it turns out they're like on opposite ends, like one conundrum my head was like, what if this, what if I'm creating lore for the tundra next to, you know, the expanse?

And then it turns out that it's like a North pole, south pole kind of deal where like the expanse is the bottom of the map and the tundras the top. Um, I figured that in a case like that, like I'm okay with like, kind of going back and maybe like revising the lower, like, you know, edits, whatever. So I would like more in, in tune with each other.

But like at the same time, I don't have to marry myself to those concepts either. Like if I wanna, could have next each other, you know, in my own stories I'm building.

Elf: Totally fair. Um, I mean, I would, I would say, yeah, like I'm, I'm glad we're both like, you're willing to be flexible, but at the [00:36:00] same time, I, I'm like totally willing to take cues from you for the, for the north.

So Cool. Whatever you, whatever you wanna share with me, I'll, I'll, I'll incorporate it. Um, awesome. I'll keep building out. Sweet. And then, and then Maxwell, do you wanna come back to Cumberland for a minute?

You there Maxwell tending to Yeah, I'll be there in just a second. Hold though. Ok.

Madotsuki: And you can hear the hot dogs are getting rowdy in the background. Yes. It's,

Elf: um, cool. Yeah, I'll just, I'll just call out a few other pieces. The colt content, uh, Russ the bus dot e. Uh, with a commission by Nash, Toby, n f t. Just this beautiful little illustration of a soul.

Um, it's a new style that I haven't seen before, but I just, I loved it as, as soon as I saw it. It's just, it's just gorgeous. Um, and then, uh, Oz with a, uh, another fantastic illustration, um, of, uh, the COBAL Crossroad. [00:37:00] Um, and then there's a really funny one this week, uh, by Tyler at what's good, Ty, with, um, this really fun commission by Jafar Hussein.

And he, the title is, um, not all familiar. Familiars are friends, some are just food, and it's got this wizard eating a ladybug, and it's so much fun. Uh,

Dotta: it's shared, shared in the pin tweets, by the way, if you're looking for

Elf: it. Yeah. Another way that you can

Dotta: find a lot of this cult content is, uh, Merlin, uh, has his tree with you, which I posted a link for in the secret tower that has, um, all the cult content for the week.

So check it out.

Elf: Yeah. Speaking of Merlin, he, he was gonna come up here and give an announcement. Um, so whenever you're ready here. Is he here? We're here request to speak. Yeah, I think so. Oh yeah. Whenever you're ready. Marlin, just come up. Um,

Cult Member: I'm back by the way. What up Mewell? If y'all wanna talk about Cumberland a little bit, we do.

Yeah, we do. Um, [00:38:00] so first of all, I'm just so happy and excited, um, that y'all are supportive of this nonsense. Hey, can you hear me? Um,

Elf: we're supportive of

Madotsuki: nonsense.

Cult Member: Yeah, I'm excited to build out Cumberland, actually on Thebus map now, that that's a viable option. Uh, hopefully to share some ridiculous vegetable creatures with everybody and ideally let people build their own stories from vegetable creatures. I mean, that's what the story's all about. So I'm here for the lo

Elf: Yeah, I just like, I think it just fits really well.

Cause number one, there's already like a few veggie headed wizards. Mm-hmm. Um,

Cult Member: number two, it just, it fits

Dotta: really well.

A lot of noise coming

Elf: through your line. You want? Oh yeah. Maxwell, you got a lot of

Cult Member: Yeah, I'm, I'm sorry. I'm outside right now.

Elf: There's some trucks going by. It's okay. [00:39:00] Um, you're doing my best. Yeah, it's just, yeah. And, and just number three, like your artwork is looking beautiful, so I, I can't wait to see this collection.

Thank

Cult Member: you so much. I appreciate that. It's, it's, I mean, it's like my first foray into pixel art, so I'm excited. I was going over,

Elf: well

Dotta: one of my like favorite games that I used to play on, uh, NES was Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom did

Elf: Game Sounds incredible game.

Dotta: Yeah. Uh,

Cult Member: I love that. I'll have to look that up.

I haven't seen that game

Elf: before. Yeah. Well you are, uh, calls me back to it. Yeah. Wonderful. Well I'll let you get back to all the other stuff cuz I'm

Cult Member: outside and making

Elf: noise right now. Thanks for me up. Sure.

Cult Member: Merlin. What's up?

Hey, hey, what's going on? I, uh, Keith Cumberland is gonna be a tough act to follow, but I'll, I'll do my best here. So, um, I also wanted to, uh, if Waffle Talks here, you can also, uh, request to come up too, cuz Waffles been [00:40:00] working on the game as well, which we actually are launching today. We just pushed the button like 20 minutes ago.

And the Forgotten Worlds, uh, game is live. So we, you might have seen it in the comic book. Um, if you go to the website, uh, forgotten Worlds xyz, uh, we actually have a game to keep us busy before the game. And so, um, yeah, like me and realize we hired. Uh, a freelance team to kind of put this together. Uh, I think a lot of people have already seen kind of the, the build.

So we took Minecraft and then we layered on top the kind of the universe or the secret tower area over the top of it. Uh, from a build standpoint, we built skins for all 10,000 wizards. So as soon as you go in the game, you'll see an owl on the bridge. And um, basically you can click that, you can type in a wizard number from zero to 9, 9, 9, 9, and then there's a little button you can push and you're good to go.

Um, just I guess the basics of it. I mean, all the information's on [00:41:00] that website. Then also Waffle and I will be in the Metaverse Magic Channel on Discord. But the essential thing is you can play the Minecraft game. So survival. And then we layered on top of it, basically an MMO where you can earn, uh, experience points from level one and, and level up from level one to 50.

And basically as you level up, you can learn more, more and more powerful spells. And I'm sorry, that's my dog barking in the background. Um, you can level up from one to 50 and basically learn magic. And you can also, there's a two different worlds. There's a PVP world where you can fight each other. And then there's a co-op world, which I actually prefer to just kind of work together in peace to build, you know, fortresses and fight monsters and zombies, all that sort of stuff.

So that's kinda the basics. Um, I don't know if I left out anything waffle. Uh, no. Uh, yeah, I, uh, it's been fun working on

Madotsuki: it and that, you know, Merlin's got a. Taken care of, but I'm just here.

Cult Member: I'm just [00:42:00] here to help. Alright, so we have a, a one month, um, prize competition. So right now we have the goblin as first prize.

I think we're gonna do prizes for one through 20 of the top players at the end of the month. They have the most xp. And, uh, I was gonna give out World Token, but apparently, uh, Microsoft just shut down NFT Worlds. So luckily it doesn't affect us. Um, there was one little feature that we had that was NFT dependent, but it's not critical at all.

Um, yeah, so you can level up by, uh, fighting monsters, by mining, by chopping wood, really anything you wanna do. Casting Bells is another one where you can kind of move up and there's a leaderboard, which you can find right off of that website, and you'll just be able to search yourself and where your position, what your position is on that leaderboard.

Elf: Amazing, amazing. I, I, I still can't believe you guys built the entire universe in on, in Minecraft. It, it seriously blows my mind and every single character and all the colds. It's just, it's just

Cult Member: the Herculean task. We do have [00:43:00] the sos uh, we, we haven't launched the Soles yet. We still gotta upload them, but probably next week we'll get all the soles in there.

And then we also have, uh, all ponies coming too. And then a couple more surprises, probably halfway through the month. Amazing.

Dotta: They look so good. It's so fun. And, uh, yeah, it's so ridiculous that Minecraft and Microsoft is like not allowing NFTs within Minecraft. I mean, you know, Microsoft really like missed the boat on mobile, right.

You'll notice like Windows phone exists, but it was definitely a me too product and never really got kind of Yeah, the, like, penetration that it needed to like, stay in front of mobile. So they, they hugely missed mobile and then it just feels like they're making the exact same mistake on cryptocurrency, especially by like excluding it for something like Minecraft.

So it's just, you know, NFT World is a good team. I'm sure they'll figure it out, but that's just so, so disappointing. Well, but yeah, it's a little silly. Your work is, yeah, your work is [00:44:00] amazing and you know, there's so much that we can, uh, so much that we can, so much fun that we can have with our wies for now that's not NFT based.

Yeah. And the

Cult Member: fun, the last thing I'll say is just the fun thing is, you know, we can kind of, there's a lot of plugins out there for all sorts of like crazy things like riding dragons and whatever. So if any of you guys in the community are kind of Minecraft aficionados and you have fun plugins or things that you've, you've, uh, done before, just send us suggestions and we'll, we'll see if we can get it on the roadmap.

Dotta: Awesome.

Madotsuki: Yeah, I like, I'm really glad to see that you're still building out and that you're not really worried about this whole fiasco. I actually, like, I wonder how involved Microsoft is this decision. Cause I, I posted an article that like, maybe like, maybe like eight months ago or so, Microsoft announced that they were an, they were planning on integrating NFTs into Minecraft with engine.

And I don't know, like, I guess internally things can change, but like, I don't know how [00:45:00] much that conversation really flowed through to Microsoft if, if like Microsoft just recently announced that you're planning that. So, uh, it's very

Elf: interesting.

Dotta: Yeah, I mean, bill Gates has been pretty outspoken against cryptocurrency, so, I mean, not that he's like in charge day to day, but I'm just saying that's like representative of the ethos and positioning from the top.

Very

Madotsuki: true.

Cult Member: Yeah. It sounds like the NFT Worlds team is gonna either, I mean, they, they've already been in contact with Microsoft, so I think they're gonna try to work from within. And then they said if they can't work that out, they're probably, you know, build or acquire an another kind of Minecraft clone.

So I think they'll, we'll

Madotsuki: keep on keeping on.

Dotta: Yeah. It might be better for them to be on an open source platform. There's plenty of like voxel, uh, like implementations, but, you know, it's hard, it's hard to get that ecosystem, so, yeah. But cool. Thank you for all the work being done. Um, Yeah, we'll, people posted some links in the secret tower where, uh, folks can learn more about [00:46:00] how play.

Cult Member: Yep, yep. I'll be, I'll be playing. I'll see you guys on there. Yeah.

Madotsuki: Is it on now? Because I, I, I'm kind of confused. You just launched, you launched this today, right?

Cult Member: Yeah, it's live. So the, the instructions website is forgotten. worlds.xyz, and then inside there you'll see the actual server, web server link.

Mm-hmm. The s the server is forgotten. Worlds dot hop two.org. H o p t o.

Madotsuki: Mm-hmm. And today's the day that you were, that you're launching the season two for, is that, that's correct. Right?

Cult Member: Correct. Well, season zero. Yep. We, we just cleared the scoreboard and we reset the server. So go for it.

Madotsuki: Yeah, it's open right now.

Thank you. I'll be trying you later tonight. Cool.

Elf: You're a true wizard Merlin. Um, and waffle. And waffle. Yes. Um, awesome. Um, a few other things I wanted to mention. Uh, did you guys see [00:47:00] that Wag Mesan battled with the Kaiju, that video? Um, and it looks like the Wizards came to help Wag Meison. That's great. Yeah. Yeah, no, it was really great. It was really great.

Wag Mesan was getting his, his ass kicked and uh, but then the Wizards came in at the last minute to help him. Um, I don't know. It was a beautiful video, um, that, that so good.

Dotta: I'm constantly impressed by like the quality and the like, rate of relief of, uh, 10 Ktf, what they can do with those videos. It's so great.

Elf: Yeah. Yeah. No, it's, it's a fantastic project. Um, and then, uh, speaking of super

Dotta: high quality, I saw Shark Child's book. He has, uh, a, a this, so, uh, you can visit shark child.com and he has like five different books. Um, so one I bought is the Dark Verse from Passages of [00:48:00] Remnants, and it's this like hard upper black hardcover book.

It's like absolutely incredible. So I don't know if it's really, uh, it's probably not as well known as it should be within the cult that like Shark Child is like, uh, you know, uh, how do you say it? Like he's published a lot of books and has a bunch of fans for his writings pre forgotten ruins. So you definitely should take, take a look and support our very own.

Elf: Yeah. Yeah. The, the cover of that book is, is just amazing. It's so good. Yep. Um, another piece of ran random, uh, content. I don't even, I don't even know if you would call this cult content, but Tabitha the Marsh, uh, posted this hilarious, it looks like, it looks like a picture of a, of a, uh, a, like a whiteboard, a marker board, and it says notes on the first 30 minutes of forgotten Ros Wizard Wednesday.

And like, what really struck me about it, and bear you might appreciate this, is, uh, this big jumbled mess [00:49:00] is basically what our deck looks like right now. Um,

I'm working on it. Yeah. I mean, it's better now, but maybe last week. Yeah. No, but there's like, there's like a thousand items on this thing and like, like it's, yeah. It's like how the hell do you organize all this shit and like present it in a coherent. Efficient, optimized way. Um, we met with some people

Dotta: this morning that are helping us with messaging and they were like, okay, what's the one thing that you need to focus that you guys like, want to get across?

And we're like, oh, well, we're doing this like, really cool video game. And then we talk all about the video game and like, all who invested in it and all the stuff we're doing. We're like, oh, we're also doing this TV show. We like talk about the TV show and who's involved with, oh, we're doing all this merch.

You know, we're doing all these tokens. We have all these ideas for like, on chain games. And like, you know, it was very hard

Elf: to, it was a trap. It

was

Dotta: a trap. Yeah. Because we just talked about [00:50:00] a million different things, which we were doing all of them. And they're like, okay, well you can't, like, you can't tell people that you're doing all those things.

You need to pick one. And we were like, I, I didn't know which one to pick.

Elf: Well, and, and then just like to make it even more complex, like undergirding all of that is the fact that it's. Like all being built by the community and just, you know, just explaining that concept to like these legacy institutions is, is a huge, uh, challenge and into its unto itself.

Yeah. Well, and you know, I think we always deal with this is like, how do we, um, succinctly talk about what we're doing? And back to that conversation that Donna was talking about, it's like, well, you know, pick one. Well, if there was one thing I had to, I I would have to like, describe what we're doing is, you know, we talk, we, we tweeted out today.

It's like we're speed running, uh, for I guess fantasy franchise. We're speed running. Exactly. Speed running the next Harry Potter. We're speed running the next Lord of the Rings. Um, yeah. [00:51:00] And so when you say things like that, when you say the word franchise, um, the whole concept of franchise is that you're not just doing one thing.

Whole thing is like you're franchising, like you're doing this, you're doing that, and it's this whole interconnected like universe of initiatives, which then on top of that is like amplified by the four plus thousand people that own. The characters than doing their piece of it. So it's like, it's kind of this like unfair question.

It's like, well what is the one thing you want to talk about? And, well, it's impossible. I can't, I can't talk about one thing. But you know, we have to figure out, you know, we have to get better. There's always ways to improve. We have to get better about messaging and um, and so we're working on it, well we touched on this last week, but that, this is why I love the phrase speed running a franchise.

Because, because yeah, the word franchise explains all that. But then if, when you put the word speed running in front of it, it's sort of like tells the person, um, [00:52:00] it's like they might, they might hear franchise and they might think, okay, that's gonna take you 20 years, but when you say we're speed running it, then we can like pitch like a, a three to five year plan.

And then it's like, but how are you gonna speed run it? And we're like, well, we decentralized it. And so, I mean that's why I love that phrase, um, cuz it's actually really descriptive and accurate of what we're doing. I agree. But then we

Dotta: met, we sent it to someone like two days ago and they're like, I don't know what speed running is.

Yeah.

Elf: And I, and I had

Dotta: to be like, no, like Mario, like these guys, they can be like all of Mario in like, you know, 18 minutes or whatever. I dunno, dude.

Elf: Like really fast. That's probably gonna confuse them even more. Like, like what are you doing making a video game? Yeah,

Dotta: we're, we're making

Elf: a video game and a TV show and a

Dotta: comic

Elf: and merch and toys and, and we're speed running it.

And NFTs, uh, we're

Dotta: hiring a controller. By the way. I post for a job post if you're a controller or you know, uh, someone who is, [00:53:00] who's good. We have a job post. Uh, so yeah, you can follow up with me. If you're a financial controller and you wanna be a part of Magic Machine, reach out.

Elf: Yes. Come do our books because.

Well, I was gonna say they're sick of it, but I never do it. It's really just Don. It doesn't exactly.

Dotta: I do it and I'm sick of it slash don't do it.

Elf: Um, I think, uh, is who's giving Laura today? Is it giving someone is okay if, if you're giving Lord today, just, just come up and speak. Um, we've got a few minutes left. I think that I also too,

Dotta: like, didn't like the word franchise in the beginning. We had these kind of discussions in the beginning it was like, ew, I don't wanna call it a brand, I don't wanna call it a franchise.

We're like, we're, we're doing storytelling and we're like, you know, uh, you know, feeling something that like, franchise was too businessy, too corporate, too top down. Um, but I think, I don't, I don't have a better word [00:54:00] for Yeah, for what we're doing. So

Elf: franchise it is for now. Yeah. Well, just, not to harp on this, but like, when you're.

Communicating to these legacy institutions. It's, it's, it's, it's like you have to use words that they're familiar with. You can't just invent new words. Yeah. So anyway, um, well we, we brought up two speakers before small reads. Who lo

Dotta: We also brought, wait, no.

Elf: Given

Dotta: who reads their lore, small creeps came up and, uh, high small creeps.

Madotsuki: High small creeps.

Elf: Yeah. I just wanted to say pf though. Yeah. Ahead. Give a hoot. The floor is yours. Hey, give it Yes, yes. Welcome. Give a hoot. Uh, do you have a lower reading for us today? I do, I

Cult Member: do. Uh, happy Wizard Wednesday everyone. Thank

Elf: you. Yes.

Cult Member: So this lo reading, um, some quick context. Uh, I know we don't have too much time, but some quick [00:55:00] context.

Uh, so the lore is gonna be about, uh, rooms, the card game I'm working on. So, um, hopefully people aren't sick about hearing about it yet. We just submitted a proposal to the Dow. No, great. Um, just submitting a proposal to the Dow and I'm reading more about it. Um, so, uh, yeah, hopefully it's not too much, but.

Elf: Um, take all the time you need. Cool. So

Cult Member: just some real quick context. Uh, we were in the room server, and if anyone hasn't played yet, uh, basically we're in like public beta and you can make some cards for free, uh, and play the game. And they'll always be Freeman cards. And so we're in the server and o um, who always puts, you know, who always does lore, so Right.

And, and gives it like the, uh, kind of like the pedestal it deserves is like, Hey, so, you know, we're getting these free cards. Is there any lore behind how we get these cards? It's like, crap. You know, like I, I kind of have like some vague ideas, but nothing concrete. And so I was like, you know what, this needs to happen.

Lores at the center of everything, so there needs to be a story. And so I basically went on a hunt and, um, [00:56:00] ROS uh, according to the Ros lore, uh, originates from like a, a brown hat village. And so I was like, I, I wanna find a brown hat wizard that has like the ace in the hole prop. And turns out there's actually only one.

Um, and so I go and look at the Wizard and it turns out that it's owned by, uh, the beloved Kmar in our community. And so I reach out to Kmar. He's like, Hey, Kmar, the obvious wizard. I want him to use him for some lore. Can I do that? He's like, heck yes, I'd love to be involved. And so that evening, I just kind of get to typing and I, I kind of whip up some lore and I send it to him.

He is like, holy crap, this is amazing. Like, we need to commission a piece of art for this. And when you think about, when you say those words, either out loud or in your mind, you have to think of Oz. Uh, and when you, when, and so we reached out to Oz, and Oz was like, heck yes, let's do this. And so I actually just posted the, um, the, I just tweeted out the art.

Uh, and so I just posted it. He finished it the other day. Perfect timing. And so this, um, lore is for medium Apollo of the cosmos. Um, and, [00:57:00] uh, and yeah, so it's, it's a bit about, um, rooms and uh, and kind of the role he plays in, in the rooms lore. So here we go. Um, Um, lower from medium Apollo of the cosmos.

Ruins is an ancient art, a game that to most seems to have always existed. There are a select few who remember its birth, but they keep this story to themselves as to not taint what the game has become. Medium. Apollo of the cosmos is not one of these ancient wizards, but he knows the most important thing about ROEs.

It binds the bonds. Created through shared experiences are some of the most powerful spells in the universe. People sit down to play a game, but little do they know they're performing magic. They enc, they enchant the other, they enchant themselves. An invitation to play and the acceptance sealed with a nod, handshake, a smile, presenting yourself to another coexisting in the same space.

Vulnerable the flipping through the cards as you find your hand to play with the positioning of the board in between the [00:58:00] two players. A bridge, a placing the cards on the board, allowing a story to unfold a story within the story. The resolution of the game, the acknowledgement of the evictor, a celebration and the departure separate, but now tethered by magic, Apollo knows this magic all too well.

Growing up, he played rooms with some of his best friends in various basements, kitchen tables, and local card shops. They spent countless hours sparring, laughing and bonding. As Apollo grew up, naturally him and his friends played less as, as responsibilities blossomed, but this didn't seem sit right with him.

What Rus gave him and his friends growing up was lacking in the world around him. People walked past each other without recognizing anyone. They occupied the same space without really coexisting. They interacted, but those, those interactions were shallow without meaning. And when they parted ways, nothing persisted to bind them feeling the weight of a world without magic.

He walked to a park. Him and his friends would frequently play cards in. During the hot summers, he sat [00:59:00] down and with his head in his hands, found himself lost, asking himself a question. He didn't know the answer to. As he lifted his head hoping to see the answer, and the cos was above him. He was greeted by a little girl standing next to him, girl, up for a game.

She reached out to him and her in her hand was a small pile of room's, cards. He accepted, she gleefully, sat down and placed the board In between them, the two played dozens of games. He flipped through the cards that he knew all too well, but felt like he hadn't seen in an eternity. They laughed and cheered each other on.

He felt that feeling, the magic that, that he was missing. Girl Apollo, the world needs people to bring it together. You don't have to live in a world without magic Apollo. But how the little girl smirked, she took a car card out of a chest pocket and placed it face down on the table. Girl, you know what to do?

A light breeze started to blow. Just hard enough to push the card off the table. Apollo bent, bent down to pick it up, but when he did, when he finally rose, she was gone. He looked at the card and on it, he found an image of himself. [01:00:00] She was right. Apollo knew what he had to do. He traveled back to his childhood home and gathered all the ruins cards that him and his friends used to play with.

Now, whenever someone is looking for a respite, craving a connection, or needing a touch of fun, Apollo is there with cards in hand, Apollo up for a game.

Elf: And that's it. That's great, man. Thank you. I I, I just love that, that there people are, people are bringing lore to Wizard Wednesday in so many different formats.

Um, you know, I mean, this is the first time I heard like lore about like a game. Um, it's, uh, no, it was great, man. I, I really loved it. Thanks.

Cult Member: Yeah. Yeah. So he's, so basically the way we're gonna, um, work him in is he's gonna basically be kind of like the happy face, like the welcome brigade to ruins. And whenever someone mints their first kind of beginner set, he's gonna, um, he's kind of gonna be there to kind of give them the cards.

And so that's kind of how we, uh, worked that in. But yeah, I, I'm glad you [01:01:00] liked it. Hope everyone appreciated it. And, um, yeah, it was, it was super fun and it was just like a super fun process cuz like, I don't know, the cult provides, right, like every, there, like, this was like a group effort and from Kmar being so down to, to kind of let me use his wizard for lore.

And then he also commissioned the piece as well, so he funded the commission that Oz um, drew and working with Oz was always a pleasure. And so it was kind of like a, a group effort and um, yeah, just, it was just awesome.

Elf: That was also one of my favorite parts of the story is just like the teamwork in the beginning of it all.

Um, Maxwell Tez, I know you were looking for a brown wizard to incorporate into your Cumberland Lo, so you know, maybe just reach out to a cult member who's got a brown hat wizard. Um, but yeah, I think, uh, I think we're out of time. Um, Doda bear. You guys got anything left, Matt? Nope, I'm good.

Cult Member: It's Wednesday.

Dotta: It's
