Elf: [00:00:00] All right everybody. Welcome to Wizard Wednesday. This is Elf.
I said this is Elf and Dotta. Thanks Dotta channeling in from the quantum downs. The last three days on Twitter, a battle has raged. It was wizards versus ninjas for the expansion, punk dominance. On the second day, the ninjas seemed to have the edge. The only force seemed all but triumphant. But at the 11th hour, like a phoenix rising from the ashes, the wizards cult rally, and we quashed the ninjas with a legendary 51% victory.
I want to thank the cult for that victory. It was absolutely incredible. Um, we'll talk more about that later in the show. Um, but first, as always, I want to start out with cult member shoutouts. So the [00:01:00] last week, we've seen lots of amazing artwork from our members. Uh, let me start out with Twitter user Oz, who did two amazing pieces.
Uh, we got the, uh, ghost kitchen that he made for the infamous wizard, ghost Eater, Beth Shiba. And then he also just today dropped an incredible scene of his sorcerer, equate of the Sun, um, on his travels donor. Did you see that one? It's so good. I stared at it for like longer than I should have. Yeah, it's it's just beautiful.
Yeah. I love his work. Um, then we had, uh, Magus Devon of the Quantum Downs. He commissioned a piece from our favorite CG artist, Trevor Jones at Yeb come in. Um, so this is the first time we got to see, uh, Magus Devon in full 3d. It's a beautiful gif. [00:02:00] Um, we also had our good friend Magus Tamba, uh, tweet his friend Brenda, with a beautiful painting.
Um, Brenda has been painting, uh, portraits of Wizards. Um, you guys should all go look at that post and read her story. It really touched my heart. Uh, I, for 1:00 AM probably going to commission her for a painting and I would suggest many of you do the same, same thing and send some love her way. Um, we also had, of course, tad major as always, with some excellent gifts and animations.
He did the hilarious O BJ gif. He did a, uh, wonderful Jack of Lanter and pumpkin animation, and one of my favorites of his is he took a little na xxs wizard, put it writing a broom, and then we took that and featured it in our first TikTok Post. Woohoo TikTok. Yeah. And we'll, uh, we'll talk about that more here in a bit, [00:03:00] but it's super exciting.
So thanks for Tad major for that. Always good work. Um, speaking of always good work, we had wise Sam the Viper with another great animation, uh, of a wizard summoning rain, which summoned a tree, and then the tree burned, and then the rain came back and summoned again. The whole circle of life was in the animation.
Um, we had, I think that was for Sumner Isaac of the Marsh. Yeah, perfect. Exactly. Uh, we had Twitter user t dog, who, um, apparently his wife hung their wizard in their Traverse property, which I thought really tied the whole place together.
Um, yeah, I love seeing our wizards in, in other metas. Um, we had Bard Peso of the Canyon with, uh, an excellent labyrinth goblin king meme. [00:04:00] Um, very cool stuff. The Goblin King is definitely a part of Forgotten Ruins Me, uh, metaverse. Um, we had a member of the Cobalt Horde. I think he's a member of the Cobalt Horde.
Uh, he's called Belden Belden D or something like that on Twitter. Um, he did this hilarious gif of the Cobalt chanting. One of us, one of us. Uh, the Cobalt horde is always up to semantics. And then we had, uh, Twitter user TV 3 6 36, uh, with just a very simple, beautiful gif animation of their wizard and their moon staff going through the full phases of the moon.
Um, and I think that sums it up for our cult member Shoutouts. Doda, do you have any.
No,
Dotta: but it does play into one of the things that I worked on this week that I will share. Um, the, [00:05:00] uh, we added a page for commissions on the website. So let me share that in the.
Madotsuki: Uh, secret
Dotta: Tower. Uh, so we're getting some reports that it's hard to hear you, elf. I, I, I can hear you perfectly fine. Um, but the few people in the Discord are
Elf: saying they came here.
Oh, that's, that's terrible. So,
Dotta: yeah. So we just, yeah, I can hear you fine. Okay. Um, we just added a commissions page for the Wizards Art. This is a very first draft. If I
Elf: didn't add you, I apologize.
Dotta: Well, there's a form there, um, for, to get yourself added, but we've got on there, um, bread wise, Sam, Margaret, uh, John Bivins, Oz, Trevor Jones, tad major.
I know that there, there's, there's
Elf: still like a bunch of people who do commissions in our community, um, who aren't there. So
Dotta: this isn't so much the book of lore. Of course. Right. Like the book of lore we're still working on. We'll get that as soon as, uh, as soon as we
Elf: get the dev done. We can talk more about that today.
Dotta: But the, um, basically this is a [00:06:00] page that one where everybody can show off their work, um, in, in who does commissions. And then also really it's just a place that, you know, if you do commissions, you can get listed on this page. Um, and we'll list, you know, your work side by side from the wizard it was derived from.
So check out this new page if you want to be on it. Um,
Elf: or if you wanna be taken off of it,
Dotta: just let me know. Uh,
Elf: and yeah. So check it out. Excellent. Um, yeah, that sounds great. Um, so yeah, are there, are there any questions about that or anything we've said so far? We've got a few speakers up here.
Dotta: Yeah. If anybody wants to come up on stage, feel
Elf: free to raise your hand.
Yeah. And then just by the way, later in the show, we're gonna have, uh, Magus, Devon, um, give us some lore about his wizard. So I'm really excited about that. Uh, we had, uh, Alchemist Lumos last week give us lore about his wizard. It was beautiful. Um, so we [00:07:00] wanted, we wanna do that more often. We wanna highlight wizards on Wizard Wednesday and to talk about their lore.
Um, okay. So yeah, if there's most Yeah, that's, that's a great idea. Yeah. So if every Wednesday, if
Dotta: you want to tell some lore, if anybody wants to volunteer to tell, tell some stories about your wizards. You know, last week, ZLA Soul told a story from his, uh, we just love that. So, yeah, I don't wanna pass over that every week.
If anybody wants to share. Um, we've got a slot or two. For folks to come in. And so we'll, we'll try to get better about being organized about Yeah. But you can just like, let us know
Elf: and just work out. Yep, definitely. Um, okay. And yeah, so as I mentioned, um, tad major, uh, animated, uh, little NA zero X's wizard.
Um, and then we put that in our first TikTok post. So you probably saw earlier in the week we started a TikTok. Um, we hired a super talented [00:08:00] person to handle that. Uh, she is currently in the audience known as Lochness Monster. I'm gonna let her tell us all about her, um, her operation. But I'll just say right off the bat that when we interviewed her, she, a few days later, she turned in this amazing, um, this like pitch deck for us that just outlined her whole plan.
I was super impressed by it. She's super professional. What really, like caught, caught my eye was she like used wizardly terms in her pitch. Um, she used like magical language and it just, it just showed me that she really understood what the project was about. And then when she, she made that hilarious, um, animation song remix and put it on Twitter.
Like, I watched that thing 20 times and I laughed every single time. Um, so luck. Miss, uh, without further ado, uh, [00:09:00] tell us about yourself and tell us what you're gonna do. Hey folks. Super excited to join the Colts. And hello. I just love how active and dedicated this community is. I've been dabbling in the NFT space for a little bit, but I haven't seen anything as like interesting and engaging as the wizards and as a wizard slash switch myself, i r L.
Uh, this project definitely sparks some passion within me, so I believe that there's magic brewing every day within this community, and I'm super stoked to see it pop. Uh, I'm really here to amplify our voice, our influence in the social vortex, empowering every wizard here to conjure up content, whether it's comedic, whether it's lore based, uh, a simple meme.
I really want us to grow our influence across the space. I feel, uh, like this is very much so slept on and [00:10:00] super stoked about using the content the. Animations, the lore you guys share and remixing that on the various platforms, and especially on TikTok, because that's like the platform where you can grow the most, like exponentially.
And our strategy there is really to use kind of like an invisible cloak, not really having any context as to who we are, what we're doing, just putting wizards up there and making it funny. So we had right, the, the remix with the, um, RuPaul sound that's going viral right now. So putting that in the context of the Wizard World, the intersection there on TikTok is really untapped.
And I believe that we can be influencers in this space and we can make every wizard an influencer. Um, the influencer of space could definitely use us. So yeah, I, yeah, I'm just having fun making. A ton [00:11:00] of content memes like our pi pizza meme. Super fun to make. So if you have any ideas, anything you want me to remix into social and to publish on our channels, I am so happy.
Send me an owl via Discord or here on Twitter and we can talk about it. Awesome.
Dotta: Yeah, so you can find Lochness on our, uh, on our discord. Um, she's there and so she'll be around, you know, watching of course, uh, art and lo but also you can, you know, send her messages if you want to kind of like bump it up.
So, yeah.
Elf: Yeah. That little intro you gave Lochness just sent my mind in like 20 different directions. So like, the first thing I love about your approach is like that whole invisible cloak post or, um, idea. Like, cuz that's sort of been like, um, a guiding principle or forgotten ruins from the beginning is like, you know, Keeping the mystery alive, posting things [00:12:00] without context, not explaining everything upfront.
Like if you're J like, like that little first post you put on TikTok of a wizard, like flying around on the broom, dancing to RuPaul. Like if someone comes to that cold, they're just gonna be like, what the hell is this? I have no idea, but it's hilarious and I want to know more. I love that. Yeah. I think it's gonna be really fun to see how many people are like, what is this?
As the page grows, like who are, who are these people? What are these things? Exactly. Yep. And then, and then the other thing I love about it is like, okay, it's, it's a wizard owned by little NA zero X tad major. Took that wizard and made an animation to it. Then you took it and sing it to a RuPaul song. And like so many people were involved in the making of this silly little thing.
And so like, that is the whole nature of this decentralized lore [00:13:00] creation project. Um, I j I just love everything about it. And, and like, furthermore, it's like, like our, our cult has been making really beautiful, sophisticated artwork. They make really high polished animations. They make really elaborate poems and, and, and stories.
But I also think there's room for these like super silly, ridiculous gifts. Like there's room for all of it. And, and I think TikTok is where most of that is gonna be, but a lot of that can totally bleed into, uh, Twitter and, and, and other platforms. Totally. Totally. And I think the special thing about the memes and the funny lighthearted content is that for the people who aren't as a depth in the Wizard world or in the E N F T world, that is our, like, how do you call that?
Our link between those two worlds. That's how we can create that intersection and build on that. And in [00:14:00] our other communities, you know, they can be very educated or become educated rather. And, uh, I believe that our Discord community really supports that. When people come in and they say, Hey, I just bought a new wizard.
The amount of support that they receive is great. And, um, I think that's unique to our community. So using that lighthearted, um, wizard relatable content Yep. Really helps like bring those people in. Absolutely. It makes it a lot less intimidating to be in the N F T space. You're absolutely right. Yes. Our, I mean, yeah.
The, the, our, our community has been growing, the floor has been rising. Wizards are just on an upward trajectory and it's, and it's all because of the cult and the community. And you guys have been working your magic every day, summoning your wizards within and putting your ruins on the door. It's just been like, we are the most, I think, [00:15:00] organic community, one of the most organic communities out there.
Um, and yeah, I mean, I could say more about that, but, uh, we had some people just come up Tad major. I saw you just came up. Would you like to say anything? Yeah. Hey, I'd like to just introduce myself and say hi. Um, it's been such an honor and so fun to, uh, do some of these animations, set some banners up, see people starting to use some of the art.
Um, seeing it up on Twitter. Um, kind of like you just said, the. Community here is so supportive. And, um, our growth has been really focused just from the core group, kind of creating things and having fun, uh, with what we're building here. So, I mean, anything that I make, please feel free to share, change, uh, make derivatives of that.
Um, just kind of like watching it all come together and, um, there's some ongoing things. We're working at some collabs between different people that have been doing, uh, some of the artwork together. Uh, so it's been a super cool, welcoming, warm space and I think it's, [00:16:00] it's that, uh, that community that we have that is really driving this project, uh, to grow so well.
So it's, it's really cool to be involved in it. And, uh, I I just really appreciate all the, uh, all the support
Madotsuki: from this community.
Dotta: Thanks. Yeah. We really love seeing your animations all the time and yeah,
Elf: it's really, really great. Yeah, I was, I was really impressed at how well it was synced to that RuPaul song.
Did Lochness, did you have to like adjust the timing of the, of the animation to make? Oh, woo. It is a little time consuming, but it is a hundred percent worth it and I don't mind watching it over and over again to make
Madotsuki: it happen. Um,
Elf: I have a lot of other funny tos coming out, one that will be dropping like at three today, which will be really fun to watch for you guys.
Great. Um, but yeah, you do have to sync the sound. Um, I am finding that I did not waste $40,000 on my first year [00:17:00] in film school, so that's great. Um, because I went on to
Madotsuki: marketing, but
Elf: uh, yeah, I am using those skills here,
Madotsuki: so. Awesome.
Elf: That's great. So speaking of, uh, uh, wizard leaving
Dotta: his room at the door, we've left our roon on a wall here in Austin.
Um, and you know, acrylic has been leading the charge on these murals and the first like paint has, has hit the wall, uh, fu which is great. We got the images today. Funny story. We actually don't know the address of where that wall is. Uh, the artist, you know, she's been telling us about it and sent us the pictures and paid.
And, you know, has neglected to tell us the actual location. So it's a, it's, it's secret even to us. Uh, so hopefully we'll find out and soon and tell you the exact address. But, um, along those lines, we've also put together a page about like where all the murals are that we, um, have and the ones that we [00:18:00] have in progress.
But the part that I'm also super excited about is, um, The, the instructions at the bottom will teach you how to commission your own mural in your city. So we're gonna keep doing our own. We want to keep like, um, you know, organizing, but like, of course we can only do so many. And we've, I've had a few people, um, reach out and they're like, Hey, how do I get a mural made in my city?
You know, we've got a few of us who wanna like, get together and fund it or something. So, um, we've left like, super specific instructions on that page on how to do it. Maybe I could talk through it in just like super brief. Yeah, go for it. Um, it, yeah. So it's cost, maybe it's not cheap, right? It costs probably between a thousand to 5,000 depending on your city.
Um, We, most of the ones we've ordered are around like 5,000 for two different murals. So we're getting like a 10 by 10, uh, of one wizard and then like a 10 foot long by like three foot high of like three different wizards. Um, and these were just picked by, we just decided like [00:19:00] wizards we thought would be good for that town.
Um, you sometimes can, in theory, like find an artist who will do it just for the cost of paint, right? If you know someone or you know, a wall or whatever, um, you can probably get it done for like a lot cheaper. But, you know, if you're just like, no, I wanna pay for it. I really want it to be good and want it to happen.
Um, the instructions are here really like the, the, the basic idea is like find, like pick a wizard. Find an artist, um, find a location and then like make sure you communicate with them what you want and then pay them. Um, you know, there's a few details that you wanna keep in mind. One, just on the location, like, we wanna make sure wizards are good citizens.
So just make sure that like if you pick a wall that kind of, the owner wants that image there, it really helps if you show them the image ahead of time. Right? Most, like, I think most of the wizards are really charming and people will want them, but you just have to check. Um, and then some of the artists, they'll also.
Um, they [00:20:00] will find the location for you. Like if you pay someone generally finding the location is part of kind of the uh, uh, what you're paying them for. We've used Thumbtack, we tried a lot of different places. We tried Craigslist, we tried this, we tried that. Lots of places. There's a way of to site thumbtack.com.
Um, and that's where we found the most success in just like being like pretty reliable, um, being able to get quotes really easily. So I would just say go to Thumbtack. Um, and then we recommend like reaching out to several cuz it just takes some time. Um, and on this page that we've written some templates, like you literally can copy and paste these templates and send 'em as an email.
Um, but I think that like a couple of concerns to keep in mind. One is like you gotta tell the artist that it's pixel art and that they don't need to stylize it. Right. Like send the image and be like, I want this. Exactly. And some of the graffiti art that we've seen of like other projects that's like pixel arts.
They don't like even use a ruler, they just like eyeball it and it looks awful. Like, so we wanted to make sure like we even put in the template, be super [00:21:00] specific about, um, that you want that it's pixel art and it needs to be a grid and like perfectly straight. Like you have to tell them that. And then the other part is like you need to make sure the location, like the location might be, they might just choose some like random wall where nobody ever walks.
You want it to be a good location and you also want it to last, sometimes there's like a, an artist's mural wall, um, and like you don't have to pay, but you're just gonna get painted over like a week later. It, so like you don't wanna pay, you know, $3,000 only for it to be like painted over like the next week.
So you just need to kinda like double check those things. I try to talk about that in the post. Um, but you know, it's pretty straightforward in terms of if you just are willing to pay. So yeah, if you decide you wanna do a mural in your town, um, yeah, let us know. I know that there are people in like all different areas who wanna do more murals in.
We'll probably do a room two, so. Wizards,
Elf: go and leave your room on the wall. Exactly. Yeah. Yeah. Well, and like you said, we'll, we'll figure out the location of this one in Austin. I thought I heard somebody say it's actually [00:22:00] painted on, on a wall of an, of an, of a, of a video game arcade. I don't know if that's true.
Yeah, that's what I've heard too, but I don't. Okay, cool. Um, let's see, we've got another request. Um, yeah, so, uh, anybody wanna say anything about all that?
Hap happy to
Dotta: open it for questions too. Like, we have other agenda stuff, but if anybody's like, oh, what's going on with the game? What's going on with the book of, Lord, what's going on with the forgotten souls?
Elf: We can talk about that. Yep. Yep. Um, mag, so Devon, are you raising your hand right now? Is it, is that what that is?
Madotsuki: Oh, uh, actually that was by accident, but Sure. I was actually gonna ask a question about the, the recent storyboard that you got out. Oh, I meant, I think I meant through, I think I through a laughing face. There we go. Anyway. Oh, okay. But yeah, I was actually gonna, that was perfect cause I was gonna ask the question anyway.
Um, but the [00:23:00] storyboards that you guys have been putting out, um, those, those are really, really great. Um, do, do we, um, are you planning on having those released, like maybe like, um, like biweekly or like maybe once a month? Or how, how, how do you plan on doing that schedule? Cause I was actually surprised that another one came out so fast since the last one.
Elf: Yeah. I, I would love to do it every week. It's probably gonna be more like biweekly. Um, the thing that's involved with that is, so I've been writing the stories. Um, I send the story to this storyboard guy I know he actually lives in Germany. Um, he's just really good. I've been, I worked with him professionally, um, in the past.
Um, and then, yeah, it, it takes, it just, it takes him about, I don't know, maybe three or four days to a week to do the boards. Um, if he does 'em in black and white, it's obviously faster than if he does it in color. The biggest reason we colored this one is because [00:24:00] like when he first handed it in, in black and white, it wasn't clear that there was fire involved.
So I was like, oh, we have to color the fire red. Otherwise it, it's not super clear what this is. And then he just colored the whole thing. Um, And it was amazing.
Dotta: I was just like blown away. I've gone back and looked at them
Elf: so much. I love it. Yeah, I love it too. Yeah. Yeah. So we definitely wanna do more than more of those.
Absolutely. Um, hopefully biweekly, you know, and, and the biggest reason for those is like, this, is, this is just yet another way to teach the community about the metaverse of Forgotten ruins. Um, you know, I, I can actually transition into that. I was actually gonna, um, dispense some, some overworld lore today.
Um, Yeah. Yeah. And, and I think, and I think I wanna do that in these Wizard Wednesdays more often, just drop more hints about the, the, the meta narrative and, and the overall lore. Um, you know, at first I [00:25:00] was like, no, I wanna be super secretive and just drop it in comics and animation and stuff. But the, the, the, the demand from the community has been so strong to just, they, like you guys just everyday DM me wanting to learn more.
So I think I'm just gonna like, verbally deliver a lot of it in these Wizard Wednesdays. Um, so I. Yeah, from the storyboards, what we learned is that, uh, magic can drive some users crazy. Um, in this world, magic is a very unpredictable, powerful force. And just because you may be classified as a wizard doesn't mean you've con you can control ma magic.
It doesn't mean you've mastered it. Um, in that story, we saw a pyro manzer who has just been utterly consumed by his magic, and he lost his mind. Um, and that can happen. That can happen in this world. Uh, magic is just, it's a very powerful force that not everybody really knows how to control just yet. [00:26:00] Um, you know, that said, some wizards in this world are definitely masterful, but some it just, it controls them.
Um, so yeah, I, I, I could definitely say a lot more about the magic, but I. Another, another thing I want to talk about as far as the meta-narrative is the political factions. So while magic is definitely a big force in this world, um, politics is also a huge force. Now, a lot of this story and narrative is sitting right under your nose in the collection.
Everything I'm writing is already in the collection. Everything I'm writing is also already on the map. If you study the map and if you study the collection, you'll already know so much about it. Okay? And so as far as the politics is concerned, um, in the collection, you'll know [00:27:00] that there are wizards who have seven different colored hats.
There's yellow, red, blue, green, purple, brown, and white. These are the political factions that. Run the world of Forgotten Ruins. They all have their own identities. They all have their, their own strengths and weaknesses. Um, they all cooperate with each other and they also scheme against each other. There is heavy political intrigue going on constantly in this world.
On the map, you can see the Red Wizard capital, the yellow wizard havens, and the blue Wizard Bastion. Okay, so what we don't see yet is green, purple, brown, and white. They certainly exist in this world. The map will be expanded to show them, but today I can tell you exactly who yellow, red, and blue are. We will probably find out more about them in [00:28:00] a comic and or animation, but at this moment, I'll tell you what exactly red, blue, and yellow are.
Okay. So if you look at the map, we've got the Yellow Wizard Haven. They are situated in Krono, Manzer Riviera. You can think of the Riviera as a sort of Cabo San Lucas in Mexico, or, um, the island of Ibiza off of Portor, Portugal. This is a place where people go to have fun and spring break. They are youthful, they're hot, and they're sexy.
Now the biggest enemy of youth is time, and this is why they're krono. They manipulate time. They manipulate time so that they can party all day and night and so that they can stay young. Um, what else is fascinating about it though, is they are the closest region to the quantum shadow. And I can talk more about the quantum shadow in the future, [00:29:00] but I'll say this now.
The quantum shadow is the perceived threat in this world. Emphasis on perceived, um, um, So how is it that this young, youthful spring break region, uh, is so close to the perceived biggest threat of the world? Well, it's because of the Battle Ma Mountains that separates them. The battle Ma mountains are who, uh, ostensibly is, who's protecting this, this paradise.
Okay. So the strengths of, of the, of the yellow wizards are they're, they have vitality, they have stamina, they have energy. They're carefree, they're happy, and they're joyful. Their weaknesses are, they're shallow, they're unfocused, they're debaucherous, they're unserious, unlearned and generally unwise. So that's the, that's the yellow Wizard Haven.
That's where the yellow wizards hang out. That's the Krono Manzer Riviera. [00:30:00] Next we have the Red Wizard Capital. You can see them on the, um, Western coast. They're right across, they're right on the shores of the salt. Uh, the Red Wizard Capital is cosmopolitan. They are elitist, they are wealthy bankers and they are focused on money.
You could think of them similar to New York or Washington, dc There's lots of political intrigue happening here. Lots of deal making, lots of commerce, and they are sort of a cultural center. Their strengths are, they are cunning, they are politically powerful. They're very wealthy, and by leveraging their, their, their financial strength, they can get a lot of things done in this world.
Their weaknesses are, they are elitist and snobby. They are detached from the people. They are wealth obsessed, they are materialistic. They, they, um, are obsessed in, uh, cronyism and they are oligarchs. [00:31:00] And then the final wizard faction we can see on this map is the Blue wizard bastion. Now the Blue Wizards are the academics.
They love libraries and learning. They are philosophers and scientists. You can think of them as, uh, Athens of ancient Greece. This is where all the learning happens. Uh, these wizards are in fact the most comfortable with technology. And so yes, technology does exist in this world. However, technology is generally considered inferior to magic, and I'll talk about more on that relationship later.
But the strengths of the Blue Wizards is they are highly intelligent. They are well learned. Uh, if anybody could build technology that would challenge magic, it is them. Their weaknesses are, they are overly intellectual. They are ivory tower type of academics, meaning they have [00:32:00] tons of knowledge, but they rarely apply it to the real world.
And so that's the three factions that we will cover today. Um, next week I will go over green, purple, brown, and white. But, um, the red, the yellow and the blue are who a lot of our stories will focus on in the beginning. Um, and like I said, they, uh, these, these, there's there, these political alliances are shaky.
They are loose. Some people in this world are very adherent to their political factions. Some hate the political factions. Just because you wear a red, yellow, or blue hat doesn't necessarily mean you are d devoted to that, that cause. Um, just like in our world today, political factions are often fast and loose or they can be, um, extreme, uh, centers of devotion.
So, yeah. Does uh, anybody have any comments or questions about that?
[00:33:00] No, that was awesome. Gotta say that. Awesome. Great.
Madotsuki: Yeah, that was pretty cool. I actually brought a, a lot of, uh, the, the, a lot of thought of, uh, the quantum shadow. I was already kind of thinking about the quantum shadow as being, it's a very mysterious, kind of ominous spot on the map. So I already had a, a clue that it was, there was more to what the quantum shadow was and, um, than what initially, uh, people probably thought.
Yep,
Elf: yep. Yeah. Yeah. The quantum shadow was a very mysterious place. Um, I've, I've got it all written down on exactly what it is. I don't wanna say just yet. Um, but it's definitely the perceived threat and all these political factions, if they were focused on one thing, it would be how to deal with the quantum shadow.
But like politics today in our world, Everybody has a different solution. Everybody thinks it's something different, and so they're never gonna agree on how to deal with the quantum shadow. And of course that is to the quantum shadows [00:34:00] benefit because nobody can unite to fight it. Um, cool. Doda, um, what else you got?
Because I've got a lot of other things I can say.
Dotta: Sure. Uh, first off, yeah, thanks you for sharing those things. It's, I am so excited to see this world develop and along those lines, um, I think just there's a lot, a lot of progress in many of the other areas that we've talked about. Um, like operationally, um, we are still working on the show.
Uh, the shorts. They're really promising things there still in development. We also have been meeting about the game with our development partner. So we've even done, uh, further dev, uh, let's, like further steps have been taken there. We're hoping to kind of have some negotiations with them this week. We're like so excited and so [00:35:00] optimistic about that, and we're like really looking forward to telling you guys, uh, more about that soon.
Um, something a little bit more near term is the. Book of lore. Um, so again, I want to give, uh, a shout out to, uh, the Coding Guild folks. So this is like, uh, you know, TV and uh, we've also got, uh, Niki, who's been helping me quite a lot. So we should have, you know, I was hoping to have the book of Lore Alpha out by last Friday.
I think that's what I said last Wizard Wednesday didn't quite happen. Uh, so we're working to get kind of the, the alpha version out. Um, there's lots of really interesting technical things happening there. Uh, but you know, I'm very excited to really just, uh, memorialize everyone's wizard lore on chain
Elf: and have that book up and up and running.
Yep. And just for anyone who is new to the Wizard, Wednesdays new to the Cult, I will always reiterate exactly what the book of lore is. So this is going to be a place on our website where as a wizard [00:36:00] holder you can connect your meta mass wallet. And you will, it will know which wizard you own, and you will be able to flip to that page in the book of lore and create lore around your wizard.
Build your wizard up, write stories about them, write pose poems around them, attach art to them. Um, you are in control of your wizard. You summoned your wizard, and now the wizard will summon you. And, and I think it really,
Dotta: it, it's a big part of what we're trying to do in that, you know, for the Forgotten ruins, wizard Cult is not just the NFTs.
Like we see what we're doing as like the wizard's called as a collective legendary, and the NFTs show kind of the ownership of the characters. But what we're doing here together is like collectively telling these, these stories. Um, and so the book of lore is a way. To, to, to to, to put those
Elf: stories on chain.
Yep. [00:37:00] Absolutely. And then, and then to take it further, you know, as, as we are writing the meta narratives behind the scenes for comics and, and, and animation and, and these bigger media expressions. You know, I, I've told, I've told our writers of like comics and shows, you know, never just invent a wizard out of whole cloth.
Always pull a wizard from the collection. And then if you do flip to flip through the pages of the book of lore, if somebody has written lore about that wizard, try to put it in the show. Try to put it in the comic. We want to use your ideas as much as we can, and we can't promise that everything you've written will be like, put into a show or a comic.
But, you know, it's, it's always like a first stop for us to, to pull ideas from. And this is, you know, this is truly the nature of a, of a decentralized lore building project.
Dotta: Uh, I have a question about the book of [00:38:00] Laura. When you guys are done with it or publish it,
Elf: um, will there be, uh, gas fees when you publish something into it, if you're gonna be connecting a maid of
Dotta: mask and whatnot?
Elf: Yeah,
Dotta: I'm trying to keep the gas really low. Um, it was only, yeah, it's not so expensive. Um, I don't know the current price rates.
Like the last time I tested it, gas was like in, you know, single digits and it was cheap. It was like a couple of dollars. Um, but it should be like on par with minting and nft, maybe even a little cheaper. Yeah,
Madotsuki: I was thinking if maybe it's possible, um, to have kind of like a soft upload first. So like if you wanted to say like, kind of have it just living on the site itself, just on the front end, maybe you can submit that and then if you actually want to publish it to the book, then you can actually submit the transaction.
Maybe you can do something like that where you just sign, just sign a transaction to just kind of soft publish it.
Dotta: Oh, this is a good idea. Yeah. To do
Madotsuki: like a, yeah, like it would just be on the front end and then if you want it, when you [00:39:00] actually wanna like upload it on chain and use the gas for it, then you can actually do it, push the transaction through.
But before then, you just do like maybe a simple signature. Yeah. Because
Dotta: as this
Elf: world builds, I imagine people wanting to kind of change the narrative of their wizard a little bit less
Dotta: permanent. That's
Elf: kind of cool too because, uh, people can maybe get feedback or, you know, run it by the community first before committing it to the book of the law.
This is a great
Dotta: idea. I'm recognizing it's gonna extend development time a little bit, but I think we should do it. You're so right about this. So, yeah, I'll talk to Niki this week and we'll work
Elf: on that. Yep. Yeah. Super interesting idea. Um, that said, like, and, and Dota you would be, know, know this better than I would, but.
Even if you do commit something to, to the book of Laura, can't you go back and edit it and change it? If you want, you can, but you have to
Dotta: pay gas both times. Right. And so what they're kind of [00:40:00] suggesting is like there's still a way that we could sort of have, um, ownership signatures. So you have this proof of authenticity, but it's basically free because it would just be sort of living on our kind of internal server.
I have to think about this more because it's like maybe there's a way to do a preview that you can
Elf: share. What I would
Dotta: hate is for people to just only do it off chain and then there's no, if they move on or something, there's no way to really put that on chain. To
Madotsuki: me, that's the problem I have too. I wouldn't want somebody just kinda mais put it on and like, okay, cool, that's it.
And then it's not actually submitted.
Elf: Yeah. And it just occurs to me that we do have air discord space to kind of share it first and get feedback. Yeah, that is true. That is true. Right. Right. So, but, but
Dotta: I think having a preview page that, like you could share a URL that's like, not, it doesn't appear in the book, it's not finalized.
It has a big draft on it, but at least you could share the [00:41:00] URL and pass it around. Yep. That sounds before you commit. I think that's a good idea. Yep. That sounds perfect.
Elf: Cool. Awesome, guys, I, I love when you guys give, um, feedback like this. I, I had a question, um, and this might have been covered, uh, at the very start, but, um, it's, it's largely how is full-time, uh, life, uh, on the Forgotten Ruins Wizard project going for you?
And then also I just spend time just imagining what, what your, what your day-to-day is like, and, you know, is, is part of it still crafting like the, uh, you know, the Forgotten Souls or what's it look like if you were to, if you were to kind of give us a tour thematically of what the next, um, maybe week or fortnight looks like for you in a typical, I guess there's no typical Elf Day, but like what, what are some of the themes emerging for you?
Sure. Yeah. Yeah. So first of all, working Wild in Wizards full-time has been the greatest. I absolutely love it. I obsess over it. I think about it 24 7. I dream about it. [00:42:00] Um, it's the best. It's, it's a dream come true. Honestly. Um, my typical day, okay, it's, it's been roughly, I answer about 5,000 dms in the morning.
Um, I, uh, I, um, I, I check, I check Discord, I check Twitter to see if anyone's adding me. Um, I, about the middle of the day, I, um, I work on the turnarounds. These have been taking up so much of my time. I can't wait till they're finished. Um, you know, speaking of turnarounds, just real quick, I've got every he head.
Uh, finally finished. I've got the front, left side, right side, and back of all those heads. Finally finished. Um, I want to including Philosophists. Great. Yes. Yes. Yep. All of them. Every single wizard is done. And I'm gonna put more gifts on Twitter to show you, cause I know everybody's like dying to see what their wizard head looks like from all angles.[00:43:00]
Um, so that's taking up a lot of my time. I'm gonna do the bodies next. Um, if I could add to that for a second,
Dotta: um, I've commissioned some folks to do, uh, Vox version of those heads. There's no official plans here, but I just think it's fun when we already have the turnarounds. Um, and so if there's anybody, so I think we have two requests.
One is if you know a voxel artist who might be, who is good and can take art direction and to, can help us like convert the heads into voxels, I'd be interested to talk to them. And two, also, well, I mean probably get to this, but for the walk cycles, We also could use help for another pixel artist who can help do the walking animation portions.
Like Elf is, he is by hand painting every pixel of every wizard's head in four views. So e e the, the view that you have already is a three quarter view. So this is four more for every wizard, um, done by [00:44:00] Elf himself, not a contractor. But when it comes to kind of, so that's important because the face is the first thing you look at and it's so particular and detailed.
But for the, uh, he's also doing the bodies, but the, the, the, the walk cycles in particular, you know, it's just like you see in classic animation where you have sort of the master artists do the, uh, the, the, the key, the main key frames, but then you sort of can have other people come in and fill in the, the in-betweens.
And so if you know someone, but even that takes a certain level of skills. So if you know someone who's a pixel artist or someone who might, uh, help, please reach out to us.
Elf: Yep. Yep. Yeah, I've reached out a few, and the biggest problem I'm finding is that the work is just tedious and kind of boring. Um, making these wizards walk.
It's not like fun and creative, it's just kind of, you just gotta like sit down and do it. And so even though I'm reaching out to really talented artists, they, when they finally get the assignment, they're like, oh God, I don't wanna do this. This is so boring. So, yeah. Um, anyway, so yeah, so a lot of pixel [00:45:00] pushing.
And then at nights is when I usually, uh, write more of the, the lore in the meta narrative of, of the entire world. So yeah, so that's, that's mostly been my days. Um, but yeah, like I said, I'm, I'm loving every minute of it and yeah, it's, it's, it's the project of a lifetime for me. Um, and, uh,
Dotta: on this, on this issue of like, uh, yeah, turnarounds versus souls.
So w the, they're both very art heavy, right? Because souls is, um, you know, there's no restrictions on which wizards can be burned. Okay? So for any of us joining for the first time, forgotten Souls is a plan that we have for, um, sometime in the next, you know, several weeks where, um, there will be a, um, an order of a thousand wizards, um, which may be sacrificed.
Um, and then some of those people will receive an exchange, a forgotten soul. But dark magic is [00:46:00] unpredictable and unreliable, and it's a dangerous endeavor if you choose to. Choose to do it. Um, but because there's no restrictions on which wizard can be burned, there is a sense in which it's, um, almost an entirely new collection of the same size.
And so there's a lot of art involved there. We've prioritized the walk cycles and the turnarounds above forgotten souls because we want wizards to exist in Metaverses. So, um, you know, we've talked, we've had conversations with some of the metaverses in 2D that you've seen. So we've had, um, this isn't a commitment from their side, but I can tell you we've had conversations with Lupa I and Traverse.
We've had, um, conversations with regards to, um, Atlas and, you know, I can't necessarily promise what they will or won't support, but, um, you know, if we have all 10,000 wizards, uh, with walk cycles as, um, like Pixel Sprites. I don't believe that there's any other project that I know of anyway that has their entire collection with [00:47:00] custom walk cycles.
And so I imagine, uh, that they will support us and even if they, uh, you know, even if their priorities lie elsewhere, we also have our own game and we need kind of this artwork for that game as well. So we prioritize the turnarounds, but that's a lot of an art burden on Elf, even as full-time. It's taking, you know, weeks to do, like, basically the parts were 10,000 wizards in like four dimensions.
And so, um, we've, we've pushed souls back a little bit to make sure that we don't fall behind on the metaverse, but then as soon as we finish that, it's like all hands
Elf: on souls. Yep. Yep. Um, okay. So I wanna give Magus Devon a chance to give his lore, but before I do, I just want to check off one more item on my list.
Um, and I just wanna quickly mention, um, that expansion punks pole and what it means to me. So, You guys, the cult just really stepped up on that. And here's what's so [00:48:00] impressive about that. The only force has 30,000 followers on Twitter. We've got 6,000 followers on Twitter. We beat them. They are ranked, I think I checked today, number three on open sea.
We beat them. And so what that says to me is our project is one of the most organic real projects out there. I feel like all these other projects are just paper tigers. They're pump and dumps. They're not real. They're like majority just like bots. And so our cult is solid. It is an unbreakable foundation of real committed people.
And this gives me extraordinary amounts of hope for the longevity of this project. Um, you know, I think once we drop our, our metaverse and, and forgotten souls and the [00:49:00] animation and the comic and everything we've got on our roadmap, we're gonna be blue chip. Um, and, you know, I'm just, I'm so glad that we didn't blow up too fast, that we didn't just have a blow off top and then get forgotten about.
Like, we have taken our time to build a real solid community, and I'm just so impressed by all of you. We beat the ninjas. There's no limit to how far we can go, so I just wanted to say thank you for, for that. Um, okay. Uh, Magus. Devin, you have been a very prominent wizard from the very beginning. Um, yep. I mean your, your lizard, your, your wizard is legendary status now.
Um, can you tell us more about who Magus, Devin of the Quantum Downs is? Yes.
Madotsuki: Yeah, of course. So, um, I'm [00:50:00] sure some, some of you know, but I know there's some new people here. So, um, I'm Devin of the Quantum Down was the very first wizard that I ended up getting, um, when coming into the Wizards Guild. Um, she spoke out to me immediately when I saw her from the collection and I had to get her.
Um, she's, um, she's, she's, uh, quite a quiet wizard lives. She, she lives in the quantum downs. She has, she runs a shop of her own. Um, the shop that she runs is actually a shop of otherworldly goods. Um, she actually, she, um, uses her quantum mushrooms as she actually grows on the quantum down, um, in order to, uh, to perceive, um, other worlds and other realities.
And with the help of her, with the help of her familiar, um, asp, um, his name is Spinner, he can actually traverse into those alternate realities that she's, um, that she's perceiving. And, um, with the help of her, uh, with the help of her wound of Mercury, she's actually able to, um, to keep, convert, keep, um, conversation with him, um, and kind of direct [00:51:00] him to where he needs to go in order to get, uh, items of value.
And so she's able to kind of collect those items of value and keep them in her, in her shop that she sells. Um, she sells to, to patrons who come around. Um, And she also really loves, um, she used to go, um, adventuring on her own a little bit, but, um, she's not, she, she, because of her magic that she focuses on is more, um, she, she likes, um, she's not a very powerful wizard.
She focused her magic mostly on, um, her ability to, to, um, to utilize her quantum, her quantum mushrooms to the, to the fullest. So it's mostly more for, um, kind of like learning and for, for exploring other worlds and such. So she definitely likes the, the exploration and venture portion, but um, when it comes to actually combat, she's not too well on that.
Um, so, uh, she, she used to actually, um, kind of, uh, travel around. And use, you know, trinkets that she would get from, from her other worlds in order to, to combat creatures. So, you know, maybe she doesn't know how to do, she's not doing like, [00:52:00] you know, fire spells or thunder spells or anything, but, you know, hey, maybe she came to our world and got a rocket launcher and, um, you know, she uses that and it's not quite as powerful as, you know, using like, uh, like Elf said, like if there's technology, it may not be as strong as using spousal.
I wouldn't imagine it be being too powerful trying to use a ro launcher on say a, a dragon, but you can maybe deal with some damage to it. Um, but you know, after a while that kind of got, you know, a bit bit tedious and after she got a bit more, um, more used to, to finding, uh, items of value from other worlds and, and, um, got a bit more reputation from people, as you know, uh, this, this wizards is going around, this major is going around kind of, um, with these odd trinkets and, and people had, uh, you know, they found them really valuable.
So she decided, Hey, you know what? I can open up a shop for this kind of things. A lot of people want them. So now she just lives a comfortable life in the quantum downs with her shop, um, selling useful items, whether it be, um, you know, powerful, powerful trinkets from alternate realities, or [00:53:00] maybe even just something fun like the, uh, stuffed animal from a creature that doesn't actually exist in the forgotten ruins world.
Um, and so, uh, the, the, um, she also loves, uh, as she doesn't explore and adventure too much and forgotten ruins world herself. Um, so she spends most of her times now just exploring other worlds with the help of her, uh, for her help of her quantum mushrooms. Um, She does still like to hear about more stories from, especially from, you know, if there's any powerful wizards that are able to fight, you know, maybe go on adventures in some, some dangerous areas that she would never explore.
You know, she, she's, she's interested in hearing all of those stories from, there's so many different wizards in this, in, in, in the world that they have, um, so many unique stories to them. So if they drop by and they wanna, and there's something that catches their eye, um, she's okay with giving, uh, with giving nice very generous discounts to anybody who, who wants to, uh, share their stories and share their tales of her.
Um, [00:54:00] and, uh, she's actually, she, she wants to keep, uh, she, she keeps down, um, kind of her own book of lore, um, from all the patons who come around and wanna share their stories with her. And she's interested in, in documenting all of their tales and hopefully, um, one day wants to publish her own book. Of all these interesting tales that she's found, uh, that, that people have told her from, from along the way away.
Elf: I love it. I love so much about it. My, my, yeah. My first, my first impressions are I love how, um, she's like really focused on her quantum mushrooms. Um, you know, one thing that's cool about the collection is like some wizards straight up have spells. Um, but some wizards just have like a magical item that they're holding.
And, uh, Magus Devon has a, has a quantum mushroom and it's, it's extremely powerful. Um, so, you know, I, I think that's super cool. I love that she runs a shop. I love that she's got her [00:55:00] own book of Laura going. I mean, it's, it's a really filled out character.
Madotsuki: Yep. Yeah. Um, and so I, I've kind of had people ask me some questions about like, how I go about my character building and, um, that, that definitely ties into it.
Yeah. Go. Great. Um, you know, when, yeah, when I first, when I first like, um, when I first got into collection, I definitely wanted to have like a mushroom, like I'm really big into mythology and like mushrooms. Um, so that was when I saw the collection. I definitely wanted one of those. Um, and so when searching through, she actually really, really caught my eye and, um, Actually me, I, I mentioned before that when I make, uh, characters in MMOs, it's pretty much that archetype.
It's even down to like having like blue hair for my characters. Like I really like that archetype. So she, she fit, she kind of hit like aesthetically. So first I kind of look aesthetically, see if they kind of check off like all of my check marks. And then from there, like these wizards are so great as a template.
Like they, they. They give so much to work with, but at the same time, they give you, they, they lack the information [00:56:00] that that's required. So that way you're, you have to fill in some gap of imagination. And I feel like that's such, it's such a perfect balance that they fill because they give you a nice, uh, a nice imagery for what they actually are.
You know, you have a name. You, you, sometimes you'll have, um, a title for what they, what they practice. Um, you'll have a location that they belong to or they're, they're to, tied to or related to. Um, they'll have, you know, a room and they'll have, uh, they'll have their prop and their, and um, you know, they're, they may have, uh, familiar and, but all that stuff tied together, it's like, it's, it, it gives you, it gives you a very, um, a very nice base layer to build on top of.
And it's flexible enough that you can kind of build them anywhere you want. So, I'm sure that the original person, I got majors Devin from. Um, I thank you props for selling Ma Devin from below Mint. Um, she's never gonna be sold ever again. Um, but, uh, seriously, um, like I, I'm pretty sure they didn't have anything that I had in mind, but with any, with any wizard, you know, wages, Devin doesn't [00:57:00] particularly have any rare traits, but with any wizard you can kind of, if you're able to build a story from them, um, I would say that you definitely have the ability to.
And so, um, when I first, so when I started, I essentially, you know, I got, I got the, the, the imagery down all cool. She has a mushroom and she's, I looked at, second thing I looked at was her name MAs, Devin of the quantum down. And so I was like, the quantum downs and she has a mushroom. So I was thinking, well, wouldn, didn't it make sense if he's growing mushrooms on these quantum hills that he's residing in?
And then how would that tie into what a mushroom is? And so the immediate thought is, you know, hey, magic mushrooms. So it's kind of like, well, how is that tie into it? So they're, they're magical mushrooms that perhaps if you're thinking of it from the sense of, you know, quantum mechanics maybe has something to do with space time.
You know, maybe it has something to do with, with alternate realities or, or, you know, um, you know, parallel universes. And so I went on from, so it slowly started building up from there. So I was like, okay, I have the mushroom, I have the location, now I have what the mushroom [00:58:00] does. So it has some kind of tie to quantum mechanics.
Okay, cool. Um, now how could she utilize that? And then from there, I built up slowly and I thought, okay, so maybe she uses these mushrooms and she's able to, you know, just like in, she's able to, you know, perceive alternate realities with these mushrooms or parallel universes. And, um, then I looked into, all right, so how does her familiar fit into this graph?
You know, so she has familiar who's a snake, um, the green asp. And, um, and my immediate thought, because I actually, like, I actually, uh, do have like a, i I kind of like studying quantum mechanics on my own. Um, so, uh, quantum physics is really fun for me. So I, the first thing that immediately comes, came to my head was, um, there's something, there's, uh, there's a concept in Quantum Canada called, um, uh, spinner.
And, uh, I'm not gonna get too into depth about it, but if you look up, um, uh, spinner rotation GIF on Google, you'll probably see what I mean. [00:59:00] Um, But essentially it's, it's, you can, you can get a free cool imagery of how it moves. It looks very much like a magical snake. And so I kind of, that imagery really fit into what I was thinking of.
So I was thinking if I'm gonna tie this whole character around the concept of, of being, you know, a quantum mechanic wizard, I think that would be perfect for it. And then after that, I, I think, um, I ended up taking a look at the Roone and the Roone. I, that's the part I actually had to, to do some research on.
Cuz I'm gonna be honest, I don't quite know, um, a lot of symbolism with these. But luckily Google is a really simple re simple resource to use. So, um, you can get a lot from those rooms. Cause there's, there's tons of symbology you can look up for from different cultures that have different meanings for them.
And, um, I feel like I should've, I should've probably, it should have probably, um, gone on I, me immediately. But, um, But the room that I have is actually, it's, it's, if you think of, um, the Roman, the [01:00:00] Roman God, um, uh, if you think of, um, hernias from Greek mythology, he's the messenger, God, he actually, that's his room.
So it felt like if tied into place, I was like, okay, so messenger. And then if I try to tie that into the entire theme altogether, how would she be using messaging? And so I thought, okay, if she's in these ultimate realities, perhaps you can't communicate with these ultimate realities cuz she's just kind of perceiving them.
I think of it as kind of like she's projecting herself to these realities. Like, you know, she's on her magic mushroom trip pretty much, and she can see these ultimate realities and perceive them, but perhaps you can't actually do anything in them. So that room I considered okay, maybe she utilizes that room and a way to tap into a magic that can help her communicate, even if she's in, she's not actually in these realms, is kind of like a visitor rather than actual, um, a, uh, existing in these realms.
So just kind of like, so in other words, I'm just kind of like, I piece it together little by little, I think of like a [01:01:00] central theme and I try to tie everything into that central theme and I kind of look at the individual parts. And it's a lot easier once you start making like, you know, when you start, um, thinking of these individual parts as a larger hole.
So like, spin, or I could have just left spin or is just a snake, like cool snake. And I'm sure you can like all to you, if you just wanna have, you know, like, uh, like, you know, and you're familiar, just be a pet, like a pet rabbit or something. That's perfectly fine too. It's just that if you, it makes it a lot easier to, to build up a character if you just kind of think of the individual parts as much larger parts that build into a, a larger piece altogether.
Elf: I love it.
Dotta: You so much. I have one more question. So, um, one of the things I noticed that recurs in her, uh, artwork is her Game Boy. Is that her book of lore? Is that where she stores the messages? Tell me, tell us about the Game Boy.
Madotsuki: Ah, yeah, the Game Boy is actually, yeah, it's, it's actually one of her most prized possessions that she got from, from another world.
It's one of the first possessions that she ended [01:02:00] up getting and, um, initially she got it for, she, she got it. And, um, I wanna say that, that, uh, it had, it had a copy of Pokemon Red on it and she was so fascinated by this creature capturing game, as she simply had to learn more about what, what was going on in this.
And so, so Earth tends to be one of her favorite areas that she, um, that she favorite other realms that she'll go to, to, to grab some, some items from. Cuz she's very fascinated about the world of Tara.
Elf: I love it. So I actually
Dotta: have included, uh, mags, Devon, and some of her artwork on the WTF page. I actually just updated this page today. I haven't even run it by Elf. I'm sure he is gonna have some edits. Uh, and so part of kind of this idea that we're building, um, a collective legendary is, is this idea of d uh, telling these stories and trying to show examples.
When you first learn about wizards, you should see these examples of what we're [01:03:00] doing and, um, I I, you know, yeah, Maggie Devin is legendary and she gets homepage treatment. That's
Madotsuki: actually, and, and, and also just circle back a little bit, that was actually a really cool idea that you had Doda. I actually hadn't considered that myself, of having her book of lore actually be like, with the Game Boy.
I think I'll actually be writing that in. And that's also part of what's great about this, the centralized lore building, is that you can get, there's sometimes where I get ideas from other people just like reading what other people are having and like, Building up on my own Lord that I've been creating, um, just by seeing what other ideas that people have.
And it's, it's, it's really great for, for, um, building your own characters too.
Elf: Absolutely. I love it. The, your, your whole process is, is pretty much exactly how I, how I do it myself. Um, yep. Just, it's, you know, it's just sort of free association between images and, and, and ideas and concepts and just like mixing and matching things.
And, um, you [01:04:00] know, when we, when we put the affinity feature in our generator, the, the result of that was, it, it sort of helped put these more coherent stories within each wizard. Um, so yeah, I, I love your process. That's pretty much how I do it myself. Thank you. Yep. Yep. Um, yeah. Does, uh, does anybody else have anything to say to, or, or questions for, for ma magus dev.
Um, yeah, I think it's dope that she has the Mercury room because the symbolism behind, uh, mercury. Is that he's kind of like the guardian or the messenger between worlds. So that like, fits
Madotsuki: in perfectly. Exactly. That's why I thought too, it fit in perfectly. And like I said, I didn't even know before, before I actually was doing the, the, you know, the, the lore building.
Like I, I knew the quantum mechanics part of it cuz that's, that's my geeky kind of era. And I knew the, my, the mycelium part of it, cuz I like that too. But um, when it comes to the actual, like the symbology behind that room, I was completely blank, but it just took a quick Google church [01:05:00] and then. It was like, it, it clicked together really well.
And I was like, I can definitely use this in, in the lure that I'm building. Right. And even if I didn't initially had the idea of using it, I was able to incorporate it and it made that, it, it made it, you know, a lot more, um, I wanna say it gave it a lot more depth to that lure just because I was able to incorporate that really well.
And I feel like ruins are really great because, because they're symbolism and there's so many different cultures that have so many different meanings for them that it's actually, they're actually one of the most flexible parts I think that, um, that you can use. If in, of course, you know, I, I, I say this too to other people when they, when they ask like, what are the ruins for?
Um, your room doesn't have to be important either. If you're making your character, you know, it can just be, if anything, some, some wizards may just like you as a cool accessory, similar to like a, like a tattoo that looks awesome. Like that's cool. All, all power to you.
Elf: Yep. Absolutely. So awesome. Yeah, it to, to me it's really cool also how like, I.
Like I, when, when we were making this collection, I really wanted to respect what the generator gave us. [01:06:00] I mean, we certainly, we took a lot of passes with it, but I always still wanted to consider the generator like a, a real member of the team. And so one of the coolest things that the generator did was it like put pieces together that you would normally think don't go together at all.
Um, And so when, then when it does that, you have to like, you're forced to be like, okay, well what does this extra piece mean? What does this ruin mean? Normally I wouldn't have put this ruin with this wizard, but the generator did it. So now I have to like figure out how to make it work. And that, that just creates, like, it pushes your brain into whole new territory.
It pushes, it pushes your brain out of the box. And um, whole new original creations occur with that. With that, I can't wait until we get like a virtual
Dotta: human assistant or some
Elf: kind of oracle and we'll have like our very own forgotten ruins Oracle, and we can like, you know, endow with that. Yeah, totally.
It's super cool.
Madotsuki: I can't let you do that [01:07:00] time job. It just turns on you.
Elf: Um, okay, so we're coming up on the, the end of the hour. Uh, but before we go, are there any, is there anyone else in the audience who would like to say something? Any questions, comments, concerns? Raise your hand.
Looks like, oh, we got one request. Okay. Looks like a member of the Cobalt horde is coming up. Be careful guys. Hello? Hello.
Madotsuki: How's it going? Hey. Hey, everybody. Um, this is, this is Jtk from the Discord. I've also known this flash step, but I really just wanted, Hey, jt. Hey. How's it going? Dope. What's up?
Elf: I really just wanted to hop on and kind of just say a, like, every single time that I go through like the Twitter and kind of like look through everything, whenever [01:08:00] someone's looking at the code or curious about what's happening out being on chain, I always see Goda
Madotsuki: responding and someone
Elf: being so excited about how it was coded.
So I really wanted to shout out to you to be like, I have no idea from the technical side how this is done, obviously, but everyone seems to be really intrigued and appreciates what you've done for the project. And I think I just wanted to give you like, you know, a nod that that's awesome and aside that don't understand, but so cool.
Like, so cool. Because I think if we're talking about a long term play, it's so important too to have that side of everything right. And I can, you know, talk about, until I'm blue in the face, how much I love the art that Elvis put together. I even went down the rabbit hole and like
Madotsuki: found some of your art that was on wearable and saw it for a one for one that I was gonna buy.
Now it's at two eat. And so it's outta my price range. But
Elf: like you both are amazing and I, I can't express how cool this is and how it's gravitated so many people to the same spot to create these stories that I think will go on for
Madotsuki: years.
Elf: Yes. I would like to second that Dota is literally a smart contract wizard.[01:09:00]
Thanks guys. Yeah.
Dotta: I need to write a blog post too about. Like how that works. Um, you know, standing on the shoulders of giants there. Um, and thank you very much. Yeah, I think one of the things when we, when we set out to do this project is, you know, we set out to do like a hundred year, um, project that it would be something that, like we got, we, we, we checked the details early on to make sure that we got everything right.
Like when you create a new work, you can never be sure about how it will be accepted, but by like paying attention to the details early on, you can make sure you give it kind of its best shot at the world. And so I'm really thankful that we were able to spend those time on those details early on. I
Elf: think, I know I probably speak for a lot of people here.
I think they feel the same way. And like what you all said earlier in this episode, This community, and I said it [01:10:00] earlier in Chad and Discord, the whole like, uh, on one thing versus us when it comes to voting, I think that's everything, right? Because it's grassroot community coming
Madotsuki: together to 20 k
Elf: versus the one, like one or two K in our discord, right?
And like some people don't think it's as important, but I think it really speaks to the volume of where this is going and how obsessed. I'll tell. I mean, I can say it, I'm obsessed with the project. I have other N F T players. I'm, I, I like and enjoy, but nothing holds my attention as this project has. And I think that's for a lot of people here.
So really, I mean, I'm taking up too much time here. I really wanted to say thank you and I'm looking forward
Madotsuki: for like, the years to come with this project.
Elf: Thank you. Yeah, likewise. Thank you. Thank you so much. Um, mind you came up. Did you have a question? Comment? Hey, what's going on guys? Hey, uh, hello. Yeah, I'm, I'm obsessed too.
I'm not gonna lie. Uh, it's really, honestly consumed my, my, uh, my life these past couple weeks. [01:11:00] Um, yeah, I, I did wanna ask, uh, I saw somebody talking in, uh, discord. They were asking about possible translations of like the roadmaps or the website for different languages, um, just to, for, I guess for easier reading for, you know, different, uh, for people from, from different countries.
Uh, um, and I had one more thing I, I just blanked out. Geez. Oh, yeah. I did wanna, I did wanna say two. I did wanna say too, guys, uh, like wizard by wizard. Um, the affinities are amazing, but also if you guys see something that speaks with you, make sure you guys buy and hold because I almost got priced out trying to like, acquire another wizard.
So if you guys just like something, just, just hold it down because. You know, the, the, I just feel like the trajectory of this project is just so crazy that you don't know, you don't want to like, try to buy something and sell something and the next thing you know, you're priced out. So, and that's what's happening to me cuz I, I [01:12:00] had a, a wizard that I liked and I, I felt attached to another, another wizard, and now I, I got priced out, so I had to, I, I found another, I bought another wizard, but I just regret, you know, not being able to just hold onto that wizard and, you know, uh, because you don't know what, what's gonna happen.
Like one, the, this thing is gonna shoot up because it's, it's, it's just an amazing project. It's really consumed my, my days with writing lore. I've been doing like animations for it and everything, so, uh, I'm sorry guys. I just, I just like, I don't know, I just been nerding out with this, so I really appreciate what you guys are doing in this space.
Yeah, I love
Dotta: like seeing kind of the animations and the lore and the creations on, on these wizards and, and yeah, I like this idea. A lot of localizing what we're doing. Um, I, yeah, I, cuz I, I'll notice sometimes for example, like I'll go to bed and then we'll get up and there'll be sort of activity. Um, but it's not even, you know, it's not people who live whatever in the [01:13:00] US or even speak English.
And so I think being able to kind of open up our website to that is a great idea. So, um, yeah. Folks who are listening in, I only know English and so if you're listening in and you want to kind of help out and translate some of the key pages, our website's not so big yet. Um, and so I would love, love for some help in kind of making that happen.
So just re DM me on Discord and we'll chat.
Elf: Yeah, I mean, speaking of that, we do have one person named, I think it's Chi Chica Cato, um, who I, I believe this person translated us into Japanese. Um, yeah, it's Japanese. Yeah. Yeah. So if you're in the audience, thank you for doing that. Um, super awesome. And, but yeah, we're definitely open to any other languages.
I also only know English, um, typical American, but yeah, if, yeah, if you guys are translators, then please feel free to tr [01:14:00] translate away.
Um, cool. On that, on that. Yeah, go for it. Go for it. Yeah. On that, um,
Dotta: the website is being, uh, yeah, built around a lot of the documentation is around markdown files, and so yeah, I will work on, uh, getting localized versions of any of those markdown files. Um, so if you're not familiar, markdown is like a syntax that's, you know, it's a, a little bit harder than Google Docs, but not much.
Um, and so, um, really anyone who wants to create pages or if there's documentation or you wanna do contributions, we're trying to make that very easy. You can do that for our GitHub repo. The Forgotten Rouge website is totally open source. So that's everything from these documentation pages to even the summoning, all of, uh, like not only the like game engine and the game assets and the, um, meta mass configuration.
It's all there. Um, and so I, if [01:15:00] you know one, if you're an interested coder, you can look at that. But two, the point that I'm trying to make is if you are in, if you look at our documentation on our website and you're like, oh, this sucks, why don't they talk more about like the political system or something, or like how, like how to buy an N F T for new wizards.
Like please. Um, I spent basically all day with acrylic. Um, re rewriting a lot of these pages, rewriting the WTF page, rewriting about the murals and the roadmap, and the commissions and the summoning. And so if you have, um, you know, knowledge that you find, a lot of people are coming into Discord, they're asking the same questions.
You know, it's one of the things that's about like, affinity, right? Like we haven't written about Affinity on the website at all. And so, um, if you are the sort of person who is good at writing and you wanna like, contribute, um, again, DM me, we'll talk and, um, we'll we can get that up on the website. I'm working on doing those things regardless, but, you know, I'd love some help.
Elf: Excellent. [01:16:00] Um, okay, I think we're gonna wrap this up. Uh, thanks guys for coming to Wizard Wednesday. I will try to get this uploaded to our SoundCloud. Uh, but until next Wednesday, this has been Elf and Dota channeling out from the Quantum Downs. See you later. Bye.
