| On June 30th 2021 at 8:30AM, a cult of 10,000 on-chain wizards was summoned by [[Magic Machine]], with the goal of creating a decentralized media franchise where characters are owned by the community. Shortly after [[The Summoning]], [[The Book Of Lore]] was released where you can inscribe your character's story or lore. The Book of Lore acts as Forgotten Rune's primary canon record. Once written into the Book of Lore, a wizard's story can't be erased (although it can be struck, see [[The Book of Lore]]).

| ==== The Sacred Flame ====

| Next came [[The Sacred Flame]] [[airdrop]] and the subsequent [[Wizard Burning]] event. Wizard's could be burned with a Sacred Flame to produce a [[Forgotten Soul]] (the wizard and flame are sacrificed in the process). The souls collection is Forgotten Runes' second official character collection and consists of a number of different undead creatures including [[Mythical Souls]]. During burning, a wizard's traits is taken into account for the resulting soul traits. I.E. burning a Kobold wizard would produce a Kobold soul. Burning isn't a guaranteed chance at a soul however as one may end up with an [[Undesirable]].

| The metaverse is the holy grail of web3. Being able to take a character from The Runiverse and present as that character in The Otherside or Worldwide Web 3 is part of what makes owning a Forgotten Runes character so rewarding. To that end, [[Magic Machine]] created 360 degree walk cycles for each wizard that are available via a public API for anyone to use, from hobbyist developer to metaverse architect. Being able to walk around as ''your'' Forgotten Runes character is a powerful thing.

| ==== Ponies & Merch drop #1 ====

| We next skip to December of 2021 and the minting of the [[Forgotten Ponies]]. Cult members were able to order a merch box containing an assortment of Forgotten Runes merch, a first for the project. Receivers of the merch box were surprised to find a QR code with a silhouette of a pony inset in the middle and a code on the back. This QR led to a site prompting the Cult to enter their code. Upon completion, users were rewarded with a Forgotten Pony. In addition to being able to write lore for them, ponies will also be available to be ridden in [[The Runiverse]].
